Okay. I'll bite. This show was hypnotic and arresting and I am elated to have gotten to see it. I can't wait to hear reports about how the show and its cast grow as the run progresses. Excellent performances all around. Magnificent directing. Oh my god. The horses.

Broadwaynerd101, how can you start a love thread for a show you've yet to see?
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
After some of these reviews, I'm very much looking forward to seeing this in less than two weeks from the front row! I've always liked the play, but haven't ever had the opportunity to see it performed. This plus the Broadway Flea Market is going to make for one fantastic weekend!

I doubt the play will tour- certainly not with the current cast.
Having said that, I just got back from seeing the matinee today- the piece as a whole is simply wonderful. Went in a skeptic about Daniel Radcliffe's ability to handle the gravity of the play (never really impressed with his Harry), but by the end of act one he had completely won me over. Richard Griffiths is stellar, and T Ryder Smith and Carolyn McCormick's Mr and Mrs Strang are spot on.
The only weakness for me was Kate Mulgrew, who I was excited to see. It seemed as if she was playing in a whole different show than the rest of the cast- very loud, overly expressive. She seemed disconnected from Griffiths- although she did pull back a bit at the end of Act 1 and the beginning of Act 2, which made her scenes with Griffiths absolutely stunning to behold. Hopefully she'll dial it back a bit in the future.
All-in-all, a wonderful show. Definitely recommend it. I'll certainly be venturing back later in the run to see how they've settled in.
I was at the matinee yesterday as well, and really enjoyed this play. I didn't really know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. The horse costumes were interesting...not cheesy like I thought they might be. I really enjoyed Richard Griffiths' performance...Daniel Radcliffe was also very good...very "un-Harry-like", if that makes any sense. I will definitely be going back to see it again! Did I mention that I was also happy that there were no crazy "fan girls" there...mainly (from the people around me) more serious theatre goers.
I agree about the lack of fan girls- I certainly saw several teenage girls heading into the theatre, but everyone was extremely well behaved. At the end of both Act 1 and Act 2 you could have heard a pin drop in the theatre.
Count me in on the love for this one - I was blown away by the whole production. I, too, enjoyed how respectful my audience was. Not even entrance applause, not a cat call, not anything. And even the stage door was manageable since they check tickets before you're allowed to get close. Griffiths and Radcliffe were just wonderful in the show, which has given them such strong starting material. The horse movements still give me chills. I kept forgetting there were human heads encased in those wire ones! What a fantastic night it gave me on Friday. I would love to go back.
