Amex presale--- and lowest tic price $50 !?
Once again, yay for "Hair" with $37 seats !!
Thanks, I look forward to seeing this show
$50 is a good price. Guys & Dolls costs much more to run than Hair.
Yay! and YAY for the artwork.
A wallpaper shrunk down.

Have you guys heard any of the rumors about who else they are casting in the show?
Craig Bierko as Sky & Lauren Ambrose as Sarah.

Oh, please god no to Craig Bierko.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but roughly how much time generally passes between tickets going on sale for a show and discounts/rush policies being announced? I'm wondering it for this show, as well as upcoming things like Hair and Hedda. I really want to see this, but already spent full-price on WSS, ITH, and Wicked. Can't really justify throwing away that money if I find out shortly after that I could have used a discount (and this makes me realize - shows should totally have retroactive discounts - I bought my Pal Joey ticket without using/knowing about the discount and then called back five minutes later to apply it and had to fight tooth and nail to do so. That's just silly.)
And a note on the rumors: is that for real? I know there's no such thing as a REAL or legit rumor since that would sort of negate the meaning of rumor, but still - I would die to see Ambrose (though I've heard less of her than I have Bierko, who also excites me, and I'm not sure about her vocal range) as I have LOVED the crap out of her way back from Can't Hardly Wait.
Any rumors on who they are looking at for Nicley?

I like the blue background better...
<< $50 is a good price. Guys & Dolls costs much more to run than Hair. >>
How much do you think "Billy Elliot" costs to run?
In another climate, Smaxie, I might agree. However, given what's going on these days, $50 in a pretty steep theatre, is not that great.
Could have at least made the last few rows, $35- $40
I stand by what I said. $50 for the rear mezz at the Nederlander is a good price - and the producers of Guys and Dolls are not running a charity. They can't charge poverty levels for a ticket, at least not with an initial American Express on sale. If it's too much, wait for the inevitable discounts.

$50 for the rear mezz was the same cost RENT charged.

i can't imagine they are going to generate much pre-sale activity until more of the cast is announced ...

Easy, Smaxie... no one was asking you to change your opinion.
I was just offering mine.
No one asked them to charge "poverty" levels for a ticket.
And trust me, its not too much for me, but that is not the point.
It might be too much for MANY other people, especially, when the country is in a recession. There are NUMEROUS shows out there with very high running costs, that make at least a few rows of the theatre inexpensive. ($25-$40, for example).
It's quite possible that Guys & Dolls might also offer a cheap ticket option, once their theatre is rebuilt from scratch. But it's not the type of thing to expect right now in an initial AMEX onsale.

i've given up on amex pre-sale -- been burned by paying full price for inferior seating choices too many times.
last night i could barely see harry potter's wand.

Yankee,
I could be wrong here, but I believe the Rear Mezz (at least at one time)at "Rent" was $40- $45-
And not sure what the relevance of the "Rent" prices are anyway.
Different time, different show, different economic climate.
Only similarity is the theatre.
They are paying possible FOUR STAR salaries. I don't think $10 will be the amount that will keep someone away from the show.

Yeah, $45 is a HUGE difference, alright.

For a family of four, possibly... the point was that I believe the "Rent" rear mezz price was lower.
You also posted yesterday that it was great that "Hair" was offering a $37 seat, and I agreed with you on the thread.
I think its important this day and age for shows to have a "cheap" seat, even if it is in the back few rows.

Wouldnt keep me away, but I dont think Oliver Platt is going to have people breaking down any doors either.

I would say $50 is very cheap - in an age where a theater that used to charge $26 for last two rows (Marquis) is now charging $66.
