Does anyone else wanna talk about actually being excited for it rather than ticket prices?

I'd rather have wet paint play Nicely Nicely over Burgess.

Titus Burgess, while incredibly talented, is bound to dilute "Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat" with the same inaudible mixture of riffed high notes he painstakingly institutes into any song he performs.
I'd prefer to see almost anyone else in the role, preferably someone who looks more appropriately like a "gangster." Danny Burstein would be my first choice, but since he's preoccupied with SOUTH PACIFIC, what's Kevin Chamberlin doing these days?

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I wish they could get the guy that played Nicely in the London revival.

How is this show selling? I can't decide if i want to splurge and get a ticket to the first preview, wait for them to announce a student option, or wait for TKTS on Tuesday. Anyone asked about student options be it a lotto or rush?

I'm really, really, really excited about Guys and Dolls. I just discovered this show a few months ago, and it's so much fun. Not so excited about the cast, but they could surprise me-- and I did love Oliver Platt in that horrible campy "Three Musketeers" movie.
I actually think Tituss Burgess could do a pretty good job as Nicely-Nicely, though I wasn't thrilled when I first found out he got the role. I've always kind of wanted to see Michael Ball in that role, but that's just because I'm a crazed fangirl. And I agree that Danny Burstein would have been great.

The lady at the box office today told me that they won't be having rush tickets. She said they haven't been told about any cheap ticket options. This is different from what the guy whom I spoke to earlier had said, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Hm, thanks for asking!
I really want to go to the first preview, but can't really shell out the money for the tickets. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if they reveal any sort of cheaper option.
Also, if the rear mezz tickets are $50-something and the producers end up putting the show on TKTS, would that mean that some of those $50-something tickets would end up at TKTS or around $30-something? Ever ticket I've gotten at TKTS has been around the $50-60 dollar range, so I wasn't sure.

Not much excitement here, kind of like a Republican rally these days.

Did anyone catch USA Today's review? He tore Graham and Platt apart.
http://www.usatoday.com/life/theater/reviews/2009-03-01-guys-and-dolls_N.htm
"Graham, despite her beauty, proves equally bereft of physical and vocal grace. Her Adelaide is merely a dumb blonde, sputtering her lines, shouting her songs and stumbling through her dance numbers. Her belting lacks the rhythmic intuition that Loesser's lush, swinging score requires. More crucially, the Gilmore Girls actress conveys none of the pluck or pathos that makes us care about this small-time showgirl who longs to be a respectable housewife."
Yikes! He loved Bierko and Kate Jennings Grant, though.

heo1128 that review was posted in one of the other G&D threads. allofmylife probably doesn't help that there's been 5 threads in two days, not sure about others, but I have no idea which one to post in anymore.
