The Official Julia Murney Appreciation Thread#1

So, since I've been noticing a lot of talk on the boards about Julia when it comes time to discussing cast members in different Wicked productions...I figured it was time for this very needed thread. (And pardon if this has been done before, I searched but did not find anything)
So, yes.
Julia Murney is amazing. I fell in love with her voice the moment I first listened to the cast recording of Lippa's WILD PARTY, and the appreciation grew immensely when I got the chance to see her in the National Tour of WICKED in Costa Mesa. I was enthralled by seeing her live, and meeting her after the show was a great experience. She has the most kind, generous, and genuine personality at the stagedoor. She's the type of person who actually really cares that you're there and supporting her. No one else has ever made me feel more proud to be a fan.
Here's to seeing Julia in her next amazing project, whatever it may be!

I hope to god she goes back to Broadway...she's needed something big since Lennon (excluding Wicked). I would totally travel to see her if she were in a show on Broadway.
I'd personally like to see her in another Lippa show, seeing as he sees her as the main interpreter of his songs. Oh, hell...I'd just like to see a Lippa show on Broadway. That man is way underrated.

I'm a huge fan of Julia's! I've loved her since my Aunt bought me the cast recording of The Wild Party (she thought I'd like it since it took place in the 1920's). Then back in March I saw Wicked in Cincinnati. I didn't make the connection of who she was until the ride home. HAH. She was a great Elphaba though.
I've heard that she might be playing Elphaba in New York, and even though she's great in Wicked, I hope she doesn't. I'd like to see her in a new show.

If you're a Julia Murney fan and you don't have the cast album for "A Class Act" I've included a link so you can buy it immediately.
"A Class Act" told the life story of Ed Kleban, lyricist of "A Chorus Line" using his own songs. Julia was in the Manhattan Theater Club cast but I don't believe she stayed with the show when it transferred to Broadway in Feb. 2001. The CD was recorded while the show was still at MTC. "A Class Act" was overshadowed by "The Producers" that year, but I think if the Tony voters had calmed down and actually listened for a few minutes this would have won the best score trophy.
Julia is wonderful on "Better". The CD also features Carolee Carmello and Randy Graff

Posted: 11/21/06 at 12:02amJulia's amazing. My story's similar to most I suppose. Got The Wild Party album several years ago, and was completely blown away by her voice. And not just her singing, but the way she puts so much emotion behind it. I don't know how to explain it. The first time I heard How Did We Come To This, I was almost crying(and I am NOT a cryer, lol). I saw her in Wicked over the summer, and she was incredible. Her acting was pretty much what made the performance for me- just amazing. I'm a humongous fan of this woman.

Julia Murney rocks my proverbial socks. I freely admit I'm part of the "ENOUGH WICKED!!!" camp, but her performance gave me a fresh appreciation for the material.
I love her choices on "I'm Not Waiting" - it did a fantastic job of showing off her softer side - that she's not all belt and sass.
My Julia Murney story: I sat in the front row of Lennon in San Francisco, and she threw me her last flower during "Give Peace A Chance". When I met her at the stage door after, I thanked her for it, and her response: "Yeah, you looked like you really wanted one!"
(Yes, I don't care for Wicked but I liked Lennon.)

Julia Murney is a goddess. She's a terrific actress with a real hardcore work ethic. anyone see the Funny Girl concert a few years ago? She memorized her part, i don't think anyone else did - and she had a lot - she gave a really finely nuanced performance too.
and I like her jack hammer vibrato. It's a testament to how much she supports her voice.
