Some people on this board are pathetic.
We know that you don't like Rent, you make it perfectly clear every single time the show is mentioned. Granted, it is probably mentioned too much, but please be mature about it and ignore the threads.
That being said can we PLEASE stop attempting these threads? I've lost count of the 'Goodbye Love' Rent posts (while we're at it, at least try and be original) over the past week. None of them are going to work because there are too many moronic multiple accounts around right now, and if their stupidity wasn't annoying enough...we have the bitter posters who have nothing better to do with their lives than involve themselves in every thread with rude comments.
Rent means a lot to people. It has brought fans, inspired actors and influenced new shows. As it will continue to do for many, many years to come.
Love it or hate it, the show coming to a close is for the best.
However, it isn't exactly the end. There will now be more productions than you can shake a stick at, a film that you can reference whenever you see fit, two soundtracks...and lets face it, the show will have a revival in decades to come.
I don't mind adding one more goodbye, whether it's repetitive or not, as the show's ending is right around the corner and theoretically the threads will cease. "Rent" is one of my all time favorites, a score I listen to constantly. I find it to be one of the most innovative shows not just on Broadway now, but has ever been on Broadway. It attempted something bold, new, contemporary, and brought a new generation to the theater. The characters were well defined, the stories poignant, the scope collossal. Was it a complete success? Probably not, what is? You try to hit so many points, you're bound to miss a couple. But it was close enough for me, all four times I saw it. Who knows how much Larson could have achieved had he lived? R.I. P., Rent and Rent Groupies. It was a historic twelve years.

When I see the last performance of rent on the big screen, I think I'm going to tear up when they sing HOW DO YOU MEASURE A LAST YEAR ON EARTH in Seasons of Love B. My movie theatre will be drowned in my tears!
galadriel_freak that is exactly how I feel. This show isn't the best show ever written, but IMO it reaches beyond entertainment. It means something different for every individual person who has seen it (some hate it, some see it as life-changing). To me it was life-changing.
The emotion I am feeling towards Rent closing is something that I have never really felt before and can't really explain. But it's defenetly not sad. Or angry. If anything its thankful. I am thankful for all of the lives this show has changed, like mine. I too will be there Sunday evening and I am looking forward to one of the greatest experiences of my life!
Good riddance, love.
I kid, I kid.
Not too distraught over its closing since it had a nice run. Over the years, I've come to realize just how many flaws the show has, but I have good memories of it though. I saw the tours several times and most of the OBC back in '97.

Your movie theatre probally has a "Look Out For" poster of you issued in by the Producers of RENT.
Don't worry folks, based on the way Broadway revivals have been going, Rent will be back within 5 years. Heh.
I think Rent is a beautiful show. It's not my favourite, but it's definitely had an impact on me.
While I'm a wee bit sad to see its "era" come to an end, it had a great run, which is more than many (great) shows can say for themselves.
For those who love the show, be grateful. A measure of a great show is its emotion, it's music and its story not the time it had on Broadway.

spring awakening and rent really can't be compared, considering they're 2 completely different shows.
im upset to see this go since it will always be my favorite and it's what got me into theatre also, but i know it'll be back.

this may be my favorite musical and all, but I am not in denial like some of these other people. rent, as amazing as it is, has to come to an end, the worst thing the show could do would be to stretch out something that isn't there

I'm not a fan-girl, but I'm going to miss this show. It really is amazing. That being said, it's had a long healthy life, and it's time to close has come, just as it has for all other musicals and plays.
So, Goodbye Love

well said xOnMyOwnX. When does anyone think the rent revival is going to happen? I don't know if they will pull a Les Miz on Us are wait a thousand years like Sunday in the Park With George

I agree with everyone in saying that people need stop bashing RENT. Its closing. You should be happy, instead of all grouchy bothering people who are upset by this (like my friends and I). This show means a lot to a lot of people...
let them have these last few days.
goodbye RENT....
and thank you Jonathon Larson for years and years of Broadway magic that will live on for much longer than the show itself.
"No one cares?"
about RENT closing? 'cause I would have to agree.
