I'm surprised no one has commented yet on Riedel's article in today's Post. Wonder if the show is about the gay porn industry or just the porn industry in general. Cheyenne is gay, Winkler is straight and who is Ron Jeremy? Should be interesting no matter what.

The thing about Riedel's column, though, is that Adult Entertainment was unbearably bad, not funny in the least. The night I saw it, the house was silent as a grave.

I already did from work. Most of the sights were banned from my job (which is a Big Brother kind of place,but the pics I did see were of a fat and very unattractive late middle-aged guy. Where are the snows of yesteryear?

He's actually a really funny and likable guy.

He was on that VH1 reality series a few years ago. Like a Celebrity Big Brother or something. I forgot what it was called.

It sounds like an interesting play, if not a little stupid, but I wonder if those two are big enough draws to keep the show running.

THANK YOU for saying this. I figured with Elaine May at the helm it was going to be entertaining. Then we realized she had cast her daughter in the lead, and it turned out only to be an exercise in tedium.

Well... I would, but that's not my point. He's not a late-30s guy who looks mid-20s. He's a late-30s guy in great shape. If that's the character and the script deals with that, fine, but on first read, the idea of him as an "up-and-coming porn" star sounds pretty silly, his desirability notwithstanding. He looks his age.

Ron Jeremy harkens back to the days where the market for porn was seen as only men- and in heterosexual porn, you wanted your male stars to be not very attractive so that even the plainest man could imagine that the woman depicted (who was always conventionally attractive) would have sex with him. It is the exact same philosophy that informs Ax Bodywash commercials now: Plain, sometimes downright homely men pursued by gorgeous super models.

True. And harkens back to the day when (for men) performance below the waist was the only criteria for getting a job. What the men looked like didn't matter in the straight porn industry in the 80s.

Except that is starting to change (and most of the Axe models, while definitely hired to look "average" still look better than most of the male straight poirn stars from back in the day). The reason straight porn guys are now routinely meant to be more attractive and fit isn't just because more women watch porn, it also goes into how younger generation straight guys identify--similar to how ads aimed at straight men now often emphasize things they are meant to desire in themselves like abs, for better or worse the average younger straight guy no longer wants to imagine himself as a guy with a beer gut who gets the hot girls, but as a hot guy who gets the hot girls.

As for age, maybe Cheyenne's character plays a porn newbie to *daddy* porn? one can wish...

I recall in an interview with Cheyenne several years back, he mentioned that he'd done the nudity bit somewhere in the past. Not in New York. Closest he came in NY was Broadway Bares somewhere around 2005.
