The Rain May Never Fall Till After Sundown...

Oh mama now I do feel old, I saw the Australian production as a VERY young child at a matinee in Melbourne at Her Majesty's Theatre (that's it pictured left). The designer of the local production, who later also designed the London production was John Truscott. He then went on to design the movie and win an Oscar for his work. A couple of years ago I was given a couple of costume sketches from the J.C. Williamson production. I suddenly have the urge to drag them out and play the cast recordings.(NY and London).

I've always had a soft spot for the score. Shame it was butchered for the film. Didnt the woodland sets appear again the following year in Finians Rainbow?

Absolutely adore the Camelot score - full of beautiful Fritz Loewe melodies and the master-cratsman Lerner was at the peak of his lyrical powers.

Thanks Mama, looks interesting. I too LOVE the show, the last fully professional one here did have Richard Harris, but was a cutdown of a cutdown touring version. Some songs had one verse, LOL It wasn't pretty, though Richard Muenz as Lancelot was!!!
