What show this season has gotten the most disparate reactions from the critics and regular theatergoers? Some loved, others hated with a passion?

Once, Matilda, If/Then, Last Ship
Update: Oops, didn't notice you said this season. This season, would be Last Ship, Side Show, The River, and to a lesser extent, On The Town.

I was going to say If.Then is probably the one with the most disparity of views.
That being said, in my life I would say that CATS and/or Wicked were the two that had the most split votes.
Cats is loved by so many and other literally detest it with a passion as strong as a thousand burning suns. Same goes for Wicked.
Even in its original production, a case could be made for Side Show. After yesterday's opening of the revival, Side Show may well be a clear front runner for running the gamut of critical reception.
Every freakin' show to ever open.
Back in the day, people forget, but a little thing called FOLLIES had people all over the proverbial map.
I also recall the previews of SUNDAY IN THE PARK. People forget now, but there was an enormous disagreement about the second act (full disclosure: I hated it until I saw it again a year later.)
Then there are shows in which success blocks out the forgotten but truly terrible press, i.e. EVITA. (I had just moved to NYC, had seen a preview; that show had two pans in the Times, the daily and the Sunday.)
And then shows unable to be discussed divorced from the star, i.e. IF/THEN.
Consensus is rare.
