The Sound of Music 50th Anniversary Theatrical Re-release

I didn't see it this release, but the first time I ever saw the movie was at a big screen singalong and it as magical. I'm hoping to do the same for my kids one day, because I'll never froget going to see the movie with my mom.

Michelle, I think the big difference with Merrily and this is that this is a TCM affair, so the presentation is probably different. I went to Gone With the Wind, las year, and then this. Robert Osborne introduces the film just like he does on TV, and then the film goes as normal.

My only issue was that they included the Intermission title card and the Entr'acte, but it only lasted a few minutes. Half the theater was empty through the first scene because so many people had left during the "intermission."

It was really beautiful to see on the big screen. I don't remember the last time I saw the entire film, so it was a joy.

The projection looked really good, but it also had sort of a classic look to it. When Fathom Events re-released the film 5 years ago as a 2-day sing-along for the 45th anniversary, I think that print was slightly better for some reason. Not that what I saw last night was bad at all. It was still splendid quality, but the 45th anniversary showing looked more digitized.

Yeah, I agree about the intermission. It should've been 10-15 minutes for a much needed bathroom/stretch break, but it lasted for 2 minutes. Many people in my audience either left to go to the bathroom/concession, or they got up with the intention of leaving but sprinted back to their seats once Act Two began.

Still, it was a magical experience. The audience was really enthusiastic. No one sang along, but there were laughs, tears, and applause after some musical numbers and during some movie moments.
