Last Sunday for Mother's Day i went to see the Sound of Music with my mom at La Mirada Theater. My first theater outing since Anastasia in 2019. It was another stunning production. This was my 4th show at the venue. The sets/costumes were extravagant and the cast was spectacular. This is the show's last weekend of performances.

LOL When I read the subject line my brain registered as “The Sound of Music at La MaMa” and I got really confused for a split second.

So glad you enjoyed the show, however THE SOUND OF MUSIC brings back horrible memories of the production I directed at a Catholic high school. I'd staged the opening with the nuns processing down the aisles of the auditorium in darkness and carrying battery powered candles to illuminate their faces.
The girls complained that the habits they were wearing were black and ugly, while the parents complained that there wasn''t enough.light on their daughters. One father came up to me in the parking lot and warned me to "fix things or else'"

^ If it makes you feel any better, the opening scene used a bit more lighting.

Ellen Stewart is getting a kick out of this from the “great beyond”.
