I have tickets for tonight and the show is at 8....I'm confused. How did Act 1 end if the show doesnt begin until 8?

I think it could be just the matinee performance.
Thanks BwayLeadman. You totally restored my faith in the success of this show.
Some people might like it, some people might not. My dad likes EVERYTHING he sees, and he's a VERY TASTEFUL PERSON. I gave him a couple of audio samples of the songs to listen to, and he seemed to have took to that like cats take to milk. Now I'm just going to see for myself what it's like...

So, BwayLeadman, what did you think of the show in all?

I enjoyed the show a lot!
To those that will see it later, I caught a towel. !
Anyways, I LOVED it and making my friends come see it.
It stays true to the movie, yet not a copy cat.
Linda and Holly are the HOTTEST roles in the musical.
One of my friends that saw it with me said "I thought it was going to bomb, but this show's GOOD"
If your dad likes everything he sees, wouldn't he not be a very tasteful person?
I think it'll be cute. Not mindblowing or anything, but def cute.

Lol. I was wondering this too.

How was Richard H Blake? I've seen him in several shows: "Sound of Music" (Marie Osmond tour), "Saturday Night Fever" (as Gus and Tony), "Aida" (Radames), and "Hairspray". Does he get a lot of stage time in this show? Any songs?

Ahh--I'm so excited!
I saw it.
I will just say it needs some cuts, quite a bit of work, and was not my thing at all.
Many in the audience really seemed to enjoy it though.
Saw it in Seattle and thought it needed some work...I assume they'll tighten a lot up before opening night, but all in all...it was mildly enjoyable. I liked it...

Saw the first public preview tonight and LOVED it! I've been looking forward to this show for months and it did not disappoint. It was so much better than I thought it would be. It's absolutely hilarious! The costumes, wigs, sets and dancing were AMAZING!!! Fabulous cast! Such a fun show!
Did anybody go to it tonight who wasn't waiting for it or was regretting going to see it?
No I didn't see it.
But I've heard good things from several people about today/tonight..
The show is far better than anyone could have imagined after the reviews from Seattle. Laura Benanti has come a long, long way in a difficult role. It's far from perfect theater, but great individual performances add up to a very enjoyable 2:45.

There are a bunch of positive reviews of tonight's preview over at ATC. Looks like we might have another contender for Best Musical if these early notices are any indication.
Saw it tonight and the opening in Seattle. They changed a lot. Not many new and deleted scenes, but everything has been tweaked (lyrics, dialog, etc.). There's a lot more interaction between Stephen and Laura in the 1st act, so now there's actually a relationship that we see build on stage. They lost 2 songs: My 8 Lovers and Wonder. They can still tighten it up, but watch Laura get much better reviews than Seattle where she wasn't really cold and miscast, but seriously underwritten.
I don't think the theater snobs will like it regardless, nor anyone who can't get over that this show is an adaptation of an Adam Sandler movie. But they're opinions are as stilted as the rapid fans, so go for those in the middle...
Thank God they cut My 8 Lovers. It was painful to sit through, and not worthy of Rita Gardner's talents. Wonder was actually one of the few great songs but it did stop the show and focus on Julia too early.
