my school is doing Tommy as our musical this year. I am very excited and concerned. Do you feel this could be a great musical for a high school to do? Do you think it will sell to younger audiences such as high school students?

What difference does it make what we think. Your school's already made the decision to do it. Stop worrying about it and just have fun. It's not like your production has to recoup to keep the school open.

It is a rock musical, I would think teenagers would like it. I would be more worried about whether the parents would get upset over the drug references.

Yeah, I knew a high school in Houston that did it back in the 90s. I know they cut Fiddle About, but not sure what else was cut. I can't imagine the show without Acid Queen, but I'm not sure how it would be treated in a high school production.

According to MTI, they license a school-friendly version that cuts "Acid Queen" and "Fiddle About," which is probably what Mister Matt saw.

Hey, my community theatre is doing American Idiot as their summer show for high schoolers, so Anything Goes nowadays (if only they would do that show)

I think there are different standards between what a HS chooses to perform vs. a community theater.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I suppose, but the performing group is high school age students and having people on stage shooting heroin and saying the F work repeatedly is not my idea of a show for high schoolers.
