re: The Wiz#6
Posted: 8/27/04 at 1:47pmI wonder what he will do with the tornado. I thought the original tornado was pretty cool. Didn't Geoffrey Holder direct the original?
re: The Wiz#7
Posted: 8/27/04 at 2:15pmYes, Holder was the original director and costume designer. The tornado was a brilliant effect.
re: The Wiz#8
Posted: 8/27/04 at 2:22pmHow did they do the tornado in the orginal? Someone tell me about it... I didn't see it! Updated On: 8/27/04 at 02:22 PM

Posted: 8/27/04 at 2:31pmStop making fun of Des. He is a great director and the league/wing gave him a Tony TWICE and he did an amazing job on THE WHO'S TOMMY.

Posted: 8/27/04 at 2:34pmyou can't judge a director from one show. Dracula may have been a fluke...

re: The Wiz#14
Posted: 8/27/04 at 3:06pmYeah I know, that is kinda mean. Ive seen some of his shows where his direction is GREAT! Tommy for one. Also Draculas faults (I have not yet seen the show) are probably from whoever wrote the script. It probaby says where they would fly or strip lol. :)
re: The Wiz#15
Posted: 8/27/04 at 3:13pmWell yes they used dancers for the tornado, but it was a lady with this incredibly long piece of material trailing behind her and as she walked around the stage, it wrapped around pieces of the set and then trailed off of the stage with her. It was cool. Only Geoffrey Holder!

"dancers."
hehe!! I did the Wiz my junior year of high school and the dancers played every inanimate object in the show, lol. We were the tornado, the yellow brick road, the poppys...(and then the slaves and emerald city people obviously).
I love it.
re: The Wiz#18
Posted: 8/28/04 at 10:09amI saw a production of the Wiz just recently, and using the dancers like that is what they did as well.
