It looks like the goal here is to bring the show back to the West End and Bway.

Anyone know which ending they're using?

I agree with Jo -- I saw the original production (with Michael Ball as Fosco) both in London and New York, and really enjoyed it. Both the London and NY casts were excellent and I liked the projections (yes, I was thisclose to ducking when the train came out of the tunnel). The Broadway production was sadly plagued by illness, but I also believe lack of promotion played a role in the show's demise.

Yeah I think the projections got a bit of a bad rap. They were a completely new innovation at the time and I thought they were clever and unique (the waterfall scene during "Perspective" and the train being my favorite moments) The story didn't have the dramatic tension that I was expecting and it was obvious there were some problems from the get-go. I mean the fact that they were still changing the ending a year after it had opened in London and still were up until it closed kind of signals that perhaps it wasn't ready yet. But musically I enjoyed it a lot and hope that perhaps this would end up in a small house like The Hudson or something.

Can anyone elaborate on this? Is the staging somehow similar to Defying Gravity or was the meaning here that the effect is as underwhelming as a fly-less Defying Gravity? He just drops while surrounded by smoke? Is there a sound effect at least?"
It looked like he slipped and fell with the train noise and lights behind him. The scene indicated that the action took place on the train tracks so it's not as confusing as it could've been I suppose.

I saw this last night and I sure do hope it happens. I'd love to go to London to see the Charing Cross production, but that may not be in the cards for me at this time. I'm having flashbacks to the ENO revival of Sunset Boulevard, and my panic that I'd never have another chance.
