Jane Wyman winning for Johnny Belinda over Olivia de Havilland in the Snake Pit is just a joke to me.
The 1940 year at the oscars was a mess too. Ginger Rogers over
Davis for the Letter, Hepburn for Philadelphia Story and Fontaine for Rebecca. The following year they gave it to Fontaine in her average performance in Suspicion beating Davis for Little Foxes and he more talented sister (opinion) de Havilland in Hold Back the Dawn.
62 was an amazing year but as much as I love Anne Bancroft in the miracle worker I would have to say Katharine Hepburn owned that year in Long Days Journey Into Night.
Charlize Theron did a good job but I think Naomi Watts should have won that oscar for 21 Grmas. I believed every moment. Stunning work in my opinion.
