Got back from seeing this wonderful show for the 5th time tonight. I saw the new cast about a week into their run and I have to say both the Alice/Bobby-Brian and Marin/Jason cast give very different, spectacular performances.

If you've seen Marin and Jason early in their run you NEED to see them now that they settled in. So many things were different this time and it really shows that Marin and Jason settled into these roles beautifully.

Kyle Dean was probably the strongest vocally tonight and really deserves more credit for what he does. That high B in I'm Alive was incredible and really gives you goosebumps! He's fantastic and makes Tveit look like an amateur in this role. Kind of sad he'll be wasting his amazing talent on Wicked next....

Fahy was good tonight. Not as strong, vocally as when I saw her last but she was probably a little tired. I hope she does more theatre after this.

Adam and Louis were ehhh for me. It may be that I've seen them 5 times but it seems that they tired out these roles because it was so dull. Both, were not very good vocally tonight and the acting with Louis wasn't his best.

Overall though, it's still a brilliant production and i'm so sad it's closing. Hoping for a London production!

rorschach, what are you talking about? Obviously the poster knew that his name was Jason because they spelled it right each time they mentioned him. Yes, Marin Mazzie is married to Jason Danieley, and they are both starring in the Pullitzer Prize-winning musical, Next to Normal on Broadway, currently playing at 222 West 45th Street (a.k.a the Booth Theatre, which seats 704 people).Just thought I'd lay down some solid facts...

And the OP had to go back and UPDATE his/her original post. I'm sure that the wrong name was there initially. (there is an updated note at the bottom)

No need to be nasty.

Just like I edited this one after posting.

The OP had written "Daniel" in the place of Jason originally. Makes a lot of sense as Jason's last name is Danieley and Dan is his character. A simple mistake, and definitely not one to get your panties in a twist over.

Yes, that rank amateur Aaron Tveit isn't about to be headlining an eagerly anticipated new musical that he received rave reviews for out of town, is he? And just so you know, Tveit didn't sing the high B because it wasn't written into the score at the time. He'd have no trouble hitting that note.

And yes, I'm sure Kyle Dean (who is also excellent in his own right) feels his talents are wasted going into the biggest hit on Broadway. What else was he going to do this winter/spring? All of the shows coming in this year have been cast already. Maybe he wanted to keep working.

I wasn't stating that Aaron Tveit was an amateur. If you READ, you can see that Kyle Dean MADE him look like one. I never said that Aaron Tveit couldn't hit that note either. You are completely putting words in my mouth.

and also thanks for your kind opinion adamgreer, keep your opinions to yourself. Fools like you are better seen than heard

So SuttonFoster: only YOUR opinions are valid? You trashed an actor that many feel is exceptional. You can't really expect that everyone would agree with you, do you?

I adore you, AdamGreer.

dramamama, i see that that is how it came across in my wording. I didn't mean for adamgreer to not state his opinions about the show, but his wording in his opinion was bashing me, directly

As per usual, I think these boards have a way of blowing things out of proportion. I, too, am a fan of both Aaron Tveit and Kyle Dean Massey. But I did not find the OP's words to be 'trashing' Tveit in any way.

I agree with dramamama and adamgreer 99% of the time. Including now. Also, Marin and Jason got exceptionally better the 2nd time I saw them (first was in Aug 2010 and second was last month). Kyle's last note is incredible.

While I realize you MEANT the comment as a compliment to Massey, you did so at the expense of Tveit. (Intentionally or not.)

AdamGreer addressed what you said, not you.

(and yes, my use of the word "trash" was hyperbole.)

Aaron has trouble keeping the b-flat at the end of "Goodbye" in CMIYC in-tune. I'd hate to hear what his B would sound like. Kyle Dean all the way!
