I didn't see any mention of this article from Friday 7/9 on the board.

It's one of my favorite topics - the lack of musical education leading to the lack of appreciation for the beauty of acoustic orchestral sound.

Today's audience is perfectly happy to listen to a show accompanied by 6 over-amplified electric instruments. But some of us really miss the physical excitement of a real theatre orchestra with a real string section.

That's one of the things you have to appreciate about the St. Louis MUNY. They are committed to performing the full original orchestrations of the shows they produce. As rare as it is to find a full orchestra on Broadway these days it's even rarer to find that in regional and summer stock companies.

Interesting, though, how little discussion of music is in that thread, though.
