I have to disagree with almost everything Al Dente posted, as usual, and have to respond to all that, by saying: "That's showbiz." Seriously, would anyone STILL care about her if she remained the same way she was when she released "Genie in a Bottle"? The fact is - all performers, especially in the music business and more specifically in the pop genre, have to evolve and reinvent themselves in order to remain interesting. Were some of Christina's choices the right ones, well that's all subjective. I must say that I wasn't too thrilled with her "Dirrty" image, but hell, it REALLY got my attention, and I am sure it got a lot of other people's attention. And that's the important thing...getting yourself noticed constantly so that you don't fade into the background when the next big thing comes along. Or else, she would have suffered the fate of Jessica Simpson. "Who?!?" My point exactly.

P.S. As for Christina acting - I guess she will have to go and find out. You can't determine if you can act if you don't at least try it out to see. For all we know she probably has acted before. And didn't she do some of those kiddie soaps that used to be on the 90's Mickey Mouse Club?

Anth, you were anal enough about it to criticize what you thought was Pop's typo! Maybe you should talk to your shrink about that!

As for your original post: I agree she has an amazing voice. However you said that when she sang AT LAST it was the ONLY TIME she seemed to be having any fun. What kind of stage presence is THAT? That with the exception of 3-4 minutes of a, what, 90 minute set she was uncomfortable on stage and really looked miserable?

Perhaps this is an indication that Christina is not really doing the type of music that she really want to do but is really a puppet to he “star making machinery” that is just out to market her to make money.

Let me see, am I supposed to CARE if you disagree with me Balladeer? Your opinion has nothing to do with the reality of the situation and "Xtinas" ever descending career. Her changes did nothing to enhance her record sales, which is what a constant image overhaul is supposed to do. Suddenly deciding you want to be rock or "sexy" or black will not translate into record sales, so therefore she just comes off as a flake with no clue as to who/what she is. If a good voice meant anything in the music business, Madonna would have lasted one album and Jennifer Lopez would still be touring Europe as an ensemble member of CATS. Disagreeing with me just "because" makes you sound even more hostile than usual.

WHen Justin talked to the crowd and played around..there was a sense of real warmth there...of the cute guy in school who becomes even cuter because he's funny...

When she did it..when she joked around...well...

There IS a sense of her being ..not so bright..she tried to make jokes last night and ad lib and it was like ..

Uh-duh?

I mean when 14 year old girls stare at you like your an idiot...well..

Now, when she was 14 she knew she was gonna be this great singer...and nothing was going to stop her...street smarts yes, book smarts, ah..no!...

My friend Jola summed it up last night:

"When she sings, she's the best in the world, when she talks, you wanna kill her!"

This of course has no bearing on if she can act or not...time will tell on that one....

Al Dente - I am not hostile against anyone on this board. However, I do have a problem with people who constantly comment on topics that they a.) either know nothing about, or b.) have nothing constructive or insightful to add to a conversation/post, in which both categories you seem to always fall, in my opinion. However, from this point on, I will ignore you, as I usually do to people who are not worth my time. And as I have said before, you seem to be a bitter, miserable person who never has anything positive to say.

Anyway, Songstress....you have a valid point. And I for the most part agree with your post. I am a huge Christina fan, but sometimes I find myself being disgusted with the way she expresses herself (*giggle* "Like, Oh my God"...*giggle*) and what she wears. I know that she can do much better, but I get the feeling, and do realize that she likes what she wears and the way she behaves. Obviously, she thinks it's appealing. However, someone really needs to tell her that what she's doing is actually contributing to the already negative feelings and impressions people might have about her. And yes, she does put Britney Spears et al to shame...but no one will take her seriously when she makes a spectacle of herself.

I would really like to know exactly how big the sample pool was from which the declaration that Christina Aguilera is the greatest voice of her generation could possibly have surfaced?

And Voiceanth, if you are actually spending money to go to shows like X+Jus you really shouldn't spend any valuable therapy time talking about anybody but yourself.
