Truly the most horrendous night I've spent in a theatre, and certainly the all-time worst show I've ever seen on Broadway.
And I've seen some real losers.
Can anybody else chime in with their reminiscences?
Interesting to realize how forgotten this show is.
It covered the careers of the same entertainers that Barry Manilow's HARMONY did; but this one actually managed to make it to Broadway for 17 critically-loathed performances.
Well, it's a long time ago...
Wow, that is a blast from the past that I am surprised anyone remembered.
I actually worked at the American Music Theater Festival (later, after I left, it became known as The Prince Music Theater) while the piece was being developed. So I sat through many rehearsals, techs, and performances. I had nothing to do with the transfer but always was proud to say a show I worked on went to Broadway. That being said, I thought it was an odd fit for Broadway, especially given that the Manilow show was getting a lot of notice at the time. This was not a traditional musical in any sense and wondered how it would play there. And as you mentioned it only took 17 performances to get the answer.
