I heard that Lisa Brescia from Aida is going to take over the role of Elphaba in Wicked. Did anyone else hear these rumors??

NO POSSIBLE WAY FOR ANYONE TO KNOW WHO IS TAKING OVER THAT ROLE. Idina is not leaving for almost 5 months. Trust me, no one has any idea.

You know what they say about assuming...

ok.... I'm sorry to stir up so much controversy. It was just a rumor that I heard from two different people in two different places. Both people who have Broadway connections. And jsut to let you all know.... she very well could know by know because LEAD actresses go through months of rehearsals and training. :)

You would be surprised how UNTRUE that is. And I was trying to make anyone upset...just stating the facts. Most broadway REPLACEMENT leads dont go through much trainign at all. Take ROGER BART who had about a weeks worth, if even, for T'he Frogs'

Actually, most lead replacment do not have months of rehearsals and training. Its usually a matter of intensive weeks.

Here's some factual information:

Lisa Brescia did say outside the stage door at AIDA that she wanted to do it or that that was what she was "going for."

Yeah...but he had to step in in an emergency so to speak. A lot of leads are announced months in advance. And I'm sure it is probably due to the performer's scheduling. But I am not saying that this is the case with WICKED and Idina.

even if it is a matter of weeks there still might be talks of possible replacements. I personally think that Lisa would do an amazing job. Eventhough Idina is my idol and has the most amazing voice on Broadway.

hey BronxBoundExpress... where did you hear that?? Was it last Sunday cause I personally asked Lisa outside the stage door if she was considering any roles in Wicked! And she said she turned down the role of Glinda cause it didn't suit her voice.. but she was hoping to audition for Elphaba!

I saw the show last month and I think she said about the same thing you heard and that "Glinda was written for Kristen and she's not right for it."

Lisa Brescia could definitely pull off the role. I think it will go to Stephanie J. Block though.

Is Lisa "Amneris" in Aida? Has anyone heard any other possible replacements? The show is obviously going to have to get someone who is a powerhouse like Idina b/c, as of now, she carries the show. Joel's gone, Norbert's gone, Kristin's gone. When Idina leaves, I wonder what they will do. Hopefully, the show is strong enough as a spiritual/emotional piece to hang in there.

i really don't understand why SOME PEOPLE are being so rude! all she was trying to do was tell us what she heard. i don't see why some people don't have respect for others.

Another thing I was thinking about, and luvWICKED416 just brought me to it: Does anyone think that a black Elphaba would be possible? I do not see why it wouldn't be. As I listened to Heather Headley sing in "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" especially the end part, I thought that she would make a perfect Elphaba. The more I thought about it, she is such a powerful singer, or at least she was when I saw "Aida", and many know her; she would be a theater draw, but not like the current "pop-star" trend that seems to be going on (Joey Fatone, Joey McIntyre, Drew Lachey, Melanie Brown, etc.), not to say that these people are untalented. Does anyone else think Heather would be good? Or anyone else, for that matter.
