Listen, if the girl cant take some freindly banter, she shouldn't come to post things...This is a place built for arguing about retarded things like 'who's screwing who on broadway' OR 'Does anyone know why idina Menzel has bad vocal technique?' So everyone needs to lighten up.

Heather Headley would not bea good Elphaba...I dont think. MAybe good at teh songs...but i think her energy is way to different. But who knows.

Patty'O: I have wondered about Heather as Elphaba for a while. I think that it could work. They would have to re-think the make-up a little. I don't think that it will happen for a while though. I think that there will be more white Elphabas for a long time. Heather might come in a few years down the road.

Yeah, I definately think it will take a while. Hey, do you think they would try to stay away from putting a black actress in the role due to the show's dealing w/ the "world" against someone of a different color? The show and DEFINATELY the novel have strong undertones referring to the Civil Rights Movement. I was just wondering if that may be a reason that would enter their minds at all, or if it is just something I am reading too much in to.

I think that the basic story line of the show would highten the chances of a black actress playing the role.

Shoshanna is an amazing actress w/the soulfoul voice of a sassy black woman! :). I absolutely love her. she was marissa's understudy in hairspray and she also had the fabulous solo before "i can hear the bells" i think. she is absolutely fantastic. her voice is amazing. i saw her at the scott alan show at the duplex and she is amazing to hear her voice on his amazing song, "home" go to www.scottalan.net or her website which i think is www.shoshannabean.com

I am hoping the role goes to Stephanie J. Block. She was involved in the role as understudy during the SFO run. People who heard her sing DEFYING GRAVITY in her very recent cabaret thought she did a fantastic job with the song. She has also said in her website that " I hope NYC will welcome me back at the first of the year..."

i dont see why the actress couldnt be african american.. if her voice fits the part it relly shouldnt matter cuz she'll be wearing green make up anyway

i must say though it will be very dificult for me to see the show without idina no matter how good the new elphaba is

I talked to Lisa after Aida in July telling her what a perfect Glinda she would make, and she said that she couldnt do the colaratora things that Kristin can do, but that she had a meeting and audition for Elphaba coming up... maybe she got it?

Shes freaking incredible.

I don't know that the green make-up would look the same on a black woman, the complexion might just screw with color...but it's something I've definitely wondered about.

I actually met lisa after an AIDA show about a month ago and she actually said that she was going in and auditioning for the role.. and that she was very very interested in playing it.

My mother's cousin's nephew's next door neighbor's former roomate's fiance's sister (whos in show biz) said that the new Elphaba is gonna be John Cameron Mitchell from Hedwig in drag again...

I also heard a rumor that Carol Channing was in talks for the role. I can imagine it now:
