alice ripley or idina menzel would be perfect. Just another question. I read inmy book "At this theatre", it said that Harold Prince's staging for 'Evita' was revolutionary. How so?
We did this thread to death on Bway.com. The person i think would be perfect is Orfeh. But since we insist on rehashing every tired old *casting* thread from the old board, then there's my answer, again.
WICKEDFAN:
MAYBE not kristen. But i stand strongly next to Idina and Julia Murney, they would be amazing. OR Lauren Kennedy, she can belt crazy high! those 3 would all be worth a ticket in my book.
Defyinggravity2:
I'm all for them. I haven't heard Lauren Kennedy sing. I'd like to though I hear she is amazing. NOw can someone PLEASE tell me how the staging for the original Evita was revolutionary? It looked the same from any other production I saw on that tape.
NO one? ok then. Back to the original topic.
Not everyone was on the old board so if this is a rehash of an old thread, it's very simple, don't read the thread or respond to it. I'm not trying to be rude but I don't we should assume everyone read a message board that has been out of commission for a while now. Updated On: 1/4/04 at 05:30 PM
I read somewhere that the Art of the possible was very revolutionary. He made it a musical chair game with Peron winning. I saw it done on the late 90's tour, it worked very well. Why was it revolutionary? I never saw any shows from the 70's to compare it to so I'm not sure if I helped

Lauren Kennedy is so good, she has an album out of ONLY Jason Robert Brown music, it is amazing. I saw her in the WOrld Premiere of THE RHYTHM CLUB at the Signature Theater, before she became "LAUREN KENNEDY" knowhatimean? recently i saw her do ANOTHER production of L5y w/ JRB as jamie. I would LOve to see her as evita.

Wickedfan, I saw the original Broadway staging, I'm not sure what they meant by revolutionary. The only thing I can think of is that concepts that were used in opera were on the Broadway stage. The original Broadway show used actual movie and newsreel footage of Eva Peron. (Perhaps using movie projections during a song was considered revolutionary). The scenery was movable set pieces and there was a large bridge across the stage, but I don't remember anything that really knocked my socks off in Evita. (The ascending tire, descending chandelier and flying helicopter were still a few years off).
Thanks. They did a production of EVITA at my camp. They did the same thing you said they did on Broadway. Didn't really make me wonder "Now that's a way to direct I never thought of before."
