I can't picture Idina as Evita. I don't know, though. She's so incredibly talented she could pull it off.
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

maybe they should get someone no one has ever heard of? I mean, that's what they did with Patti Lupone
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.

How about Evita for the Small people starring Kristin Chenowith as Evita & Nathan Lane as either Peron or Che Guevera ?

I think that I'm just obsessed with imagery.
Like I still insist that Lea Salonga, no matter how beautiful her voice was, wasn't Eponine. (I get bashed a LOT for that)
Just can't imagine Idina as Evita.
But I can't think of anyone else right now...

As soon as I read the question, I thought Idina.. then I saw all the replies.. this girl can do anything 8 times a week if she can do Wicked 8 times a week.

After hearing Wing's performance of Don't Cry for me Argentina how can you even think anyone besides her should have the role!

Marla Schaffel, yeah.

Madonna was good. I liked how she won a Golden Globe.
As for Idina...she probably could do Evita. However, I think they'd need a "name" to do the show. Yes, in the original production they took Patti and made a star. But, with today's crowds, I don't think you could just throw your average, social ladder climbing, chorus girl in a revival of Evita and expect it to be an instant sell out. I could be wrong, and probably am...but oh well. Today's audiences want to see a "star."

I definitely think Idina could vocally handle the role. It would be different than Ms. Lupone's great take on the role, but it would be a nice departure, in my opinion.

guess no one remembers the truly bad revival a few years ago with natalie toro and raul.
that should have ended anyone's desire to see this show again.

The "Evita" you speak of Dude was not a revival but a tour. Unless that's what you meant to say. There has yet to be a Broadway mounted revival of "Evita."
