Somebody Kill me Please- TWS
The Music and the Mirror when Cassie stops singing
The Maureen McGovern songs in Little Women (SORRY)
Most overtures...
I really like The Full Monty overture, though.
How much would it stink to work really hard on an OBC recording and find out everyone skips it? Depressing

I normally skip:
"Something Bad"-Wicked
"Contact"-Rent
Other than that song, I can pretty much listen to the whole 2 discs.
"My Boyfriends Back"-Jersey Boys
I hate that song. I really just cannot stand it.
"You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want(When You're Making Love)"-Avenue Q
It's not so much that I don't like it, its just not something you want to be listening when your family walks in the room.
"M.U.E."-The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Theres just better songs in that play.
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

Posted: 8/23/06 at 8:09pmWell it sorta depends on my mood but on L5Y I skip "The Story of Schmuel." (sp?) I like it but I have to be in the right mood...it's very long. On Wicked I sometimes skip "Sentimental man" and "Wonderful." I know there's more but that's what comes to mind right now.

"My Eyes Adored You" and "Workin' My Way Back to You" on Jersey Boys.
"My Friends" on the Sweeney revival.
"Toledo Surprise" and "Love is Always Lovely in the End" on Drowsy.
There are a lot more.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 8:38pmI skip a lot of Wicked, just because most of it gets on my nerves. Sometimes I skip "Baltimore Crabs" from Hairspray. I always skip the "Scrapbook" or whatever its called on Jersey Boys because I want to get straight to the songs!

Interesting. These comments reveal more about the posters than it does about the songs. Very interesting, indeed.

I've found myself skipping the backup session montage on the Jersey Boys CD lately. It's not bad, just kinda... blah. After "Cry For Me" I want to jump right in to "Sherry".
I wind up skipping "I Should Tell You" from Rent fairly often as well. Again, nothing against the song, I just want to get on to the second half of "La Vie Boheme"...
Hmmm. For a while there I was skipping "Ruffhausen" on DRS. I feel a lot of that song's kick comes from the live performance. On CD it's flat.

Two people commented that they skip the overtures. I love them. Call it the amuse bouche of a wonderful meal. It's an integral part of the whole theatre experience

Ugh DOLLYPOP It's "Little Lamb" for me too. I was laughing about this the other day because it seems that no matter which of the four recordings of GYPSY I'm listening too(I only own four) I always make a vocal sigh and change tracks. A freind pointed that out to me after saying "You really do loathe that song don't you?" Ha Ha I guess I do.

WICKED: "Popular" "Something Bad" "Dear Old Shiz", sometimes the Wizard's songs.
POTO: "Hannibal"
Les Miz: "Turning" "Castle on a Cloud"
LITP: "Dividing Day"
Some overtures, because they can be very corny sometimes, and corny works better live.

Wicked--The Wizard's songs. Something Bad. Sometimes I skip Popular and What Is This Feeling.
L5Y--I love this show madly but lately I tend to skip Shiksa Goddess and A Miracle Would Happen/When You Come Home to Me.
AIDA--Like Father Like Son, Another Pyramid
DRS--I tend to skip most of it except for a few songs like Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True, Love is My Legs, Like Zis/Like Zat, and Dirty Rotten Number.
Rent: Over the Moon
Movin' Out: Elegy, Waltz and Invention in C Minor
Hairspray: Miss Baltimore Crabs

Love Sneaks In from DRS
One Hand One Heart from WSS (arguably one of the weakest songs in the greatest score ever though still comparably better than most of the dreck being created today)

DRS - Love Sneaks In, Great Big Stuff, All About Ruprecht
Drowsy - Cold Feets

I always skip "I Want to Row on the Crew/Sailor's Chantey" on either the 2003 or 1987 recordings of Anything Goes.
On the highlights recording of Cats I always skip "Skimbleshanks: the Railway Cat". Annoys me beyond BELIEF.
Others often skipped include:
"A Rumblin' and a Rollin'" - Parade
"War is a Science" - Pippin
all the songs previously mentioned from Wicked
the love duets in Sweet Smell of Success
"Best That You Can Do" and "Don't Cry Out Loud" on The Boy From Oz
Admittedly, Bob Martin's dialogue on The Drowsy Chaperone.
"The Wages of Sin" and "Out on a Limerick" on The Mystery of Edwin Drood
"Small Talk" on earlier recordings of The Pajama Game
"Two Lost Souls" on either Damn Yankees recording
"The Nuttycracker Suite" on Thoroughly Modern Millie
I also tend to skip ballets a lot, cases in point being On the Town, Oklahoma!, Carousel (though I always listen to the Carousel Waltz), etc.

"All For One" - Spamalot
"Something Bad" - Wicked
"Mr. Cladwell" - Urinetown
"No Matter What" - Beauty and the Beast
But the winner definitely has to be "I Know Where I've Been" from Hairspray. My God. For how many times that's come on my iTunes randomly and I bolt to the computer and shut it, I should get a Tony.
