Ok i just wanted to know about celeb's who have got a part on broadway and then have missed so many shows it would have been better without them?
For example a few years ago in London an actress called Martine Mcutchen who was in the hit soap Eastenders Landed the Lead in My Fair Lady but missed almost half of her shows because she was APPARENTLY ill.
The paper's jumped all over the story saying that people who aren't trained musical actors cant cut it on the stage and the part should have gone to a West End actress!
To make matters worse she won the award for best actress in a musical but soon left the show.
Has Broadway had this happen to? as it seems to keep happening here in London.
lol
Donna Murphy in "Wonderful Town"
That's a shame about Sara she was soooooooo good in Spamalot.
I was just going to mention Donna Murphy.
How many show's did Donna Murphy miss???
it's quicker to count the amount of shows she actually DID perform in.
I was wondering how long til the contest for who would mention her first.
(No need for an apostrophe on every s.)
Donna's problem is when she did go on, SHE DELIVERED!
She just didn't go on. I love how her and Brooke and so different and polar opposites, even in attendance.

Did Sara Ramirez actually miss that many shows throughout her entire run or did she miss multiple shows in a short period of time that earned her a bad reputation?
I don't know the two times I saw it she was there. But people just said bad things about her missing many shows so I just put her cause she fit in the thread. But despite that she is an absolutely phenomenol performer.

I think that Sara just missed a lot of shows in a short period of time around the Tony Awards. She was sick, and she even thanked Claritin in her Tony acceptance speech.
Norbert Leo Butz has been out of DRS a lot since the beginning of the year because of his vocal problems. If you go to a show now you can hear him struggling.

Why would someone, who has said he performs on stage, start such a negative thread? Where's the comradery?
Stars that couldn't cut it? John Stamos in NINE - he should have missed MORE shows.

I suspect that many performers with bad reputations deserve them entirely, but many others probably are victims of broadway board hearsay. As much as I enjoy Donna Murphy, I must say that she's in the first category (as far as Wonderful Town is concerned).
etoile ,It has nothing to do with that i dont stand by my fellow artists im just not sure about big name's taking big parts to sell a show if they aren't up for the job.I simply just wanted to know if this was something what went on in the states as well as the UK .So please dont read to much in to it.
jennifer westfelt ( i think thats her name) had a similar attendance problem to donna during wonderful town, as i recall they both left about a month before their contracts ended
Although it was due to complications from her "Into The Woods" injury...
Laura Benanti in "Nine"
JLY (sorry)
and i really hate to say this because i LOVE her so much...but LaChanze

This topic has been discussed TO DEATH on this board. Do a search.
The rumor is that the rumor about Sara Ramirez is not true and that she really didn't miss that many shows. I know that both times I saw the show, she was there. Everybody I know who saw the show when she was in the cast, saw Sara (now known as "that girl from Grey's Anatomy.") She even jokes about the rumors that she missed a lot on her website and says that they aren't true in the slightest. My tendency is to believe that she really didn't miss all that many and people just like to be evil.
MEF -so dont post....
It might just be me because im not from the states, but are all theese people famous what your talking about(i mean tv,film etc).
lol
No they're right, do a search.
