re: The very first original cast recording you bought?

"Godspell" is the first one I remember listening to over and over, followed quickly by "Cats." "Rum Tum Tugger" was always my favorite as a little kid. What a shocker that I am a huge Terrence Mann fan today!

Bought with my own money? I guess it was "Aspects of Love." I was obsessed with it. (Still am!)

In 1967 I purchased "Sweet Charity" -- the original Broadway cast -- it was mis-priced at Thrifty Drug Store -- the Stereo version was $2.99.

Still one of my favorites, and I have hundreds of OBC recordings.

My first was the movie version of Little Shop of Horrors which opened the door to the OBCR of Phantom of the Opera. After that was a CD of ALW songs then EVITA, CATS and LESMISERABLES - in that order.

Oh...Phantom! - My first love of the stage!

Not sure the first one I bought was, the first one I ever heard was Damn Yankees. My dad use to sing You Gotta Have Heart to my brother because it was the only way he would calm down.

The first Broadway albums I listened to were the classic originals that I checked out from the library (OKLAHOMA, MY FAIR LADY, SOUND OF MUSIC). The first one I bought was either the soundtrack for the film version of THE KING AND I or the film version of KISS ME KATE (On LPs).

My first one to *legally buy*...I legally received the entire CD of Godspell 2001 Touring Cast through a free-trial thingy..and my first CD to buy was Funny Girl (July 2004).

I had always meant to buy Into The Woods on CD...seeing how I obsessed over the show for 10 months..

I think mine was the Man of la Mancha OBC or the Into the Woods Revival CR when I was 14. I got the Grease OBC on tape when I was 10 because I was in it at school.

Les Miserables
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

OLCR of Les Miserables that my parents bought me. The first one I probably bought myself was...Cats. Although I could be mistaken I think that probably is the one I did buy myself.

Bought myself? I don't know probobly Annie Get Your Gun revival cast. But I know that when I was little I had Annie, My Fair Lady, Bye Bye Birdie and a bunch more on tape. Oh and I think I stole Les Mis from my mother too, I remember not really understanding it but loving it all the same, lol!

re: The very first original cast recording you bought?

My parents had the cassettes to Phantom and I loved it so much as an 8 year old that I made my friends perform it with me. I was the only one I allowed to be Christine. Hee hee. Ah, the late eighties. Les Miserables was the first one I actually owned. I think my grandmother gave it to me for my birthday. The first one I ever bought myself with my own allowance money was Aspects of Love. I think...
