I don't see THE LION KING closing antime soon. It's Disney's biggest and best-selling show of the bunch. Still selling out. BATB was on Bway for ten years and counting. LK will have at least ten.
And once again, RyanWoods, Tarzan is more than likely NOT going into the Palace.
EEwwww, please not one of those '70's houses!!! Not that I am a big supporter of Disney on Broadway (actually, I loath the idea of Disney on Broadway) but the Minskoff, Gershwin, and Marquis are all too large and too cold. No intamacy at all. I loved the New Amsterdam's size; very cozy, but huge houses from the '70's are blah!
The Minkskoff makes the most sense though when you consider the designs have Tarzan crawling on the walls of the actual theatre. I can't imagine Tarzan clawing over all those pretty murals.

Maybe they'll cover up all the murals. Just put a little facade over them.
"it wouldn't suprise me if Lion King close either"
disney would be stupid if they closed lion king on broadway.
The last rumor to be going around was that Disney had it's eyes on the Rodgers. They agreed to completely renovate the theatre before setting up Tarzan there. Movin' Out did have a healthy run. Disney want's Tarzan and Beauty across from each other. The Poppins rumor was (back when CCBB was really stuggling) that Clear Channel was going to offer the Hilton to Disney to move TLK across the street. The Amsterdam would then be empty for their pride and joy, Poppins. Then again...who really does know...
Movin Out could move to a smaller theatre. Does anyone really expect LENNON to run past the end of the year?
Talk onthe street
TARZAN gets the Rodgers

My guesses:
Tarzan - Richard Rogers, after Movin' Out "moves out" to Brooks Atkinson in Spring 06' when "Odd Couple" closes after limited run.
Wedding Singer - Will play Hirschfeld after "Sweet Charity" closes come bitter winter months on Broadway, or when Applegate decides she's bored.
A Chorus Line - Palace, after All Shook Up closes following touristy Christmas season and possibly after a subsequent limited run of something or other (possibly Martin Short...)
The Color Purple - Broadway.
A Tale of Two Cities - Minskoff, after Fiddler closes come winter months.
Girl Group Time Travelers - Barrymore, ASAP
Jerry Springer - The Opera - Broadhurst, after Lennon closes come winter months.
Shining City- Schoenfeld (Plymouth) Theatre, ASAP
Hitchcock Blonde - Lyceum, after Steel Magnolias closes (very soon...)
The Pajama Game - Jacobs (Royale), after Glengarry closes at the end of August.
Bridge and Tunnel - Helen Hayes Theatre after Jackie Mason closes in September.
The History Boys - Belasco
Princesses - Cort, ASAP
Zanna - Eugene O'Neil, after Sweeney Todd has a short, but respectable run as a revival.
Mary Poppins - Hilton, after Chitty Chitty Bang Bang breaks down.
The Caine Mutiny - Music Box, after In My Life (yes, when life gives you lemons, please don't make a musical...) crashes and burns
Festen - Longacre, soonafter Virginia Woolf closes.
Barefoot in the Park - Depending on what closes first (dramas, no matter how good, rarely survive more than a year on Broadway, especially after Christmas), either the Booth or Walter Kerr, now the homes of The Pillowman and Doubt, respectively.
WHADDYA THINK?

- I wouldn't be surprised if Lane and Broderick extend again past April at the Brooks Atkinson
- Color Purple has been mentioned for the Broadway
- History Boys was mentioned today in Riedel's column as playing 20 weeks at the Broadhurst, spring '06, and a New York run for Jerry Springer still seems to be a question mark
- Not certain that Hitchcock Blonde, Bridge and Tunnel or The Wiz are actually alive at this point...
- The Belasco is too small a house for Lestat
- The Royale/Jacobs seems too small for Pajama Game
and Barefoot in the Park and Festen both need homes...

Based on what I have heard, Movin Out is pretty much done with its Broadway run and MTI will open it up to regionals once the current tour concludes.
This is very exciting!! And if Disney renovates a theatre - HELL YES!
MOVIN' OUT - it's about TIME it closed!
POPPINS in the New Amsterdam would be a RISK. It'd work for the show, but will the show stay open as long as LION KING does?
Sorry Capn -- with respect to your love of Disney, MOVIN OUT is one of the most unique entertainments and one of the only dance musicals on Broadway right now. It would sadden me to lose it simply to make room for another cartoon on stage. I'd much rather see the artistically bankrupt BEAUTY AND THE BEAST or the tired CHICAGO revival close instead.
And do we really think MOVIN OUT is going to be licensed to regional/community theatres? The show IS Twyla Tharp's choregraphy, and like FOSSE -- I think regional theatre rights will be given VERY sparingly.
That's quite a list Orch -- and I bet some of those predictions might be right. Of course, usually 1/3 of all "announced" Broadway productions never actually happen.
And the same source that talks about Disney wanting the Richard Rodgers also mentions that Disney may delay the opening of MARY POPPINS until 2007 or later.
I definitely think its safe to say they will not have five shows running simultaneously.

I hate to think that TLK will tie up the New Amsterdam for a long period of time. But they do sell out every night. The Minskoff is such a cold, but big theatre. I'd have no problem with moving TLK to the Minskoff and freeing up the New Amsterdam for whatever show might move in. Wherever TLK plays, it will likely sell out for several more years to come.
As far as Mary Poppins, I've had this hunch about the Palace for a long time and though I think All Shook Up will be around for a while, I don't think it will be around for another full year or two, so by the time Marry Poppins is ready to open in NY, the Palace could/should be available.
Just my thoughts on the matter, but BTW, is The Color Purple a bit enough musical to fill the Broadway? Hmmm.
The Luntt Fortainne will be free by Summer 06, BATB will not carry on with Tarzan, Lion King, Mary Poppins and CCBB still opn with Little Mermaid on its way.
I think A Chrous Line could fit in nicely at The Luntt. Tarzan I still think will go to The Palace :P
The Pajama Game I hope comes here soon, its looking really good, Perhaps the Minskoff or Plymouth (or what ever its called now!)
However, Its all very exciting....lots of news shows

Disney wouldn't put Poppins in the Minksoff. It's not a pretty enough theatre for that show.
The producers of A Chorus Line will want a higher profile theatre than the Lunt-Fontanne.
Given that Beauty has regularly been grossing between $500,000-$700,000 or more, always does well during the summer in particular, and has seemingly not been harmed by Chitty, it doesn't seem like it will be going anyplace anytime soon. It may not be around by the time Mermaid arrives, but it should no doubt be around for the arrivals of Tarzan and Mary Poppins.
And you're still wrong about the Palace for Tarzan.
MARY POPPINS is coming after MERMAID and TARZAN. And I think the arguement is that Disney would close BEAUTY to prevent a Disney backlash (5 shows at once) in NYC. They've made money on the project and the gross they make on B&B is pennies in the grand scheme of Disney's profits.
Michael Bennett - if you are going by the article on Jim Hill Media...the facts in it are not necessarily true.
BATB is in poor shape. They need to close the show OR restore the show to what it once was for a Broadway run or tour.
1) BATB is in bad shape. When I saw it this past Spring Break (don't judge, I took my little sister..hehehe) the acting was stale and poor. Needs to be re-examined and re-considered for its stay at the Lunt-Fontanne.
2) If 5 Disney shows were ever on Broadway at once, I'd have a nervous breakdown. That's not be being a theatre snob. That's me wonderng where producers', or theatre goers', morals are.

If it were me, I'd put Springer into Circle in the Square.
Add another vote for Tarzan in the Minskoff.
If the rumours that you guys post is true, why would Disney want the Rodgers?
Isn't it an old, small house?
