Heading to LA- what professional or equity theaters should I check out? I am familiar with the large ones (center Theater Group, Geffen ect)

Any others?

I'll be in LA at the end of the month and am also curious about the theatre scene as I'm not in CA often. Any recommendations welcome!

Definitely check and see what's playing at Musical Theatre West, La Mirada, Pasadena Playhouse, The Wallis. All great companies.

I don't know how long you'll be out there but the Center theater group will be presenting the try out for a new production of The Secret Garden at the Ahmanson beginning February 19th.

I don't know when you're going exactly, but here are some suggestions:

1) Grease at La Mirada- this is put on by McCoy-Rigby (as in Cathy Rigby). They put on quality equity productions.

2) Calvin Berger at the Colony- an opportunity to catch a production of a well-regarded off-Broadway play. I am not sure of equity status, however.

3) Off-Broadway comedy "Do you Feel Anger" at the Circle X Theatre company. They usually do good work. I believe it's an equity-waiver theatre.

Further afield, Appropriate and The Little Foxes at SCR. These are two fantastic plays- one classic and one contemporary. SCR does high level work usually. Also, Ride the Cyclone at the Chance.
