Theater related Halloween costumes?

Any ideas or examples of what you've done in the past?

I've been Frank-n-Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show and Joel Grey in Cabaret.

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

I'm not going out this year.

So I guess that would mean I'm actually going as Donna Murphy.

That was uncalled for. Again, why must everyone turn everything into Donna bashing? I almost understand if you are bitter that you missed a magnificent performance in "Wonderful Town" but it's really getting old. That comment had nothing to do with this thread, as mine does now. If you feel the need to discuss Donna Murphy's abscences, at least do so on a thread that has SOMETHING to do with it.

Oh give it rest, honey. I've seen Donna in everything she's done now for the past decade. I love her to death and shouldn't have to justify a simple joke to you.

And maybe after you've spent more than 6 days here, you can start telling me what to do.

I will not give it a rest. If you are going to make a joke, make a good one. With all of the bashing of Ms. Murphy, I can not understand why someone who has enjoyed her performances would make such a stupid joke.

Because I wanted to, that's why.

Unless you're sleeping with her or on her payroll you need to chill.

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

Wow, Ruth... bit defensive? Matt's comment was actually quite amusing... as a Donna fan myself I can still appreciate that.

I've been trying to find someone to go with me as Violet for years, but have failed miserably. Maybe this time... re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

My friend and I were planning on going as Edina (her) and Patsy (me), but... I don't think that's happening now. How unfortunate.

Perhaps I'll go as Donna Murphy as well... or better yet, Emily Skinner. re: Theater related Halloween costumes? (Don't want to be stealing Matt's thunder or anything...)

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

Frankly, that was a disgusting comment, and disrespectful to the performer for you even to suggest such a thing. I admit I have been defensive, and perhaps I do need to "chill." I just think it is disgraceful that so many people constantly bash one performer.

Way to ruin another thread, Ruth.

In a vain attempt to bring this thread back on topic, I'm going as Roger DeBris from The Producers. Yeah, I've said that a million (and one) times, but you guys just keep asking.

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

I'm thinking about going as Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street! But I have to go to the Village for the parade (maybe I'll see you, SweetCaroline!) so I don't know if that will fit in with their theme; "Sweet"... hmmm...

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

I've gone as Joanne from Godspell in the past, but last year and this year I went/am going with movie costumes (Pippin from Lord of the Rings-my roommate was Merry-and Marty McFly from Back To The Future.)

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

2 years ago. My girlfriend,at the time, and I went as Sally and The Emcee from Cabaret, revival style. Lemme just say. Cold nights in Niagara Falls are not condusive to bare chests. I should have worn the Joel Grey costume instead, lol. It was worth it though.

This year I'm going as Amneris-- it's not that hard of a costume to pull off.
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

it's not hard to go as amneris...just make a sign that says "ASS" and post it on your forehead... oh wait THAT amneris sorry hehe... Look i have a sense of humor and I myself enjoyed matts comment about donna murphy. I needed a little laugh this morning.

re: Theater related Halloween costumes?

I've been 'Jemima' from CATS, 'Christine Daae' from POTO...and I think that's all.

I'm going as Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone with the Wind" this year.
