The Edison diner for faboo soup and eggs lox and onions
Not in the same league as some of the others that have been mentioned, but for me, no trip to NY is complete without a pre-show dinner at John's Pizzeria!
If you don't have a lot of time, Ollie's Noodle House on 44th near Broadway...

The Playwright on 49th is great...reasonable and nice. Often a place where actors go between shows on double duty days.
La Masseria on 48th, next to the Walter Kerr and across from the Longacre.
Sam's right across from the Avenue Screw Theatre.
I haven't had a chance to try it yet - but XING on 9th avenue is an up and coming Asian influenced restaurant. Also, simply for inexpensive good food anytime, hit the Renaissance - great menu, nice waitstaff - good prices. Wonderful breakfasts!
SARDI'S!!!!!!!!
234 West 44th street
I've always found Sardi's to be overpriced and overrated.
I agree, it's living on its name.
i love Ralphs... not anything special but its right near broadway
Sardi's is like space mountain: go once and there's no need to ever return. It is definitely living on its name.
Has anyone here ever been to ...Broadway Joe's, I think its called? My Mom really wanted to go there for some reason...
Broadway Joes was amazing!! well, at least thats what my family said. I was SO EXCITED about seeing RENT for the first time, my stomach was in knots and I couldn't eat anything but a salad. How dorky am I? =P
