I am looking for a good Theatre magazine...to my knowledge the only one I know is Playbill, are there any others? I am looking for one I can subscribe to.
Thanks
"Show People" is really good.

I think SHOW PEOPLE is one of the most superficial magazines on the market. I let my subsciption lapse because I couldn't stand the stupid articles about going antique shopping with Michelle Lee, etc.
Too bad the really good theater magazines like IN THEATRE and SHOW MUSIC have died.
Really? I thought you could.

If you're interested in mostly non-musical regional theatre, I highly recommend American Theatre magazine. If you're interested in musicals, I suggest the (expensive) English Magazine "Musical Stages". If you're into Sondheim, I highly recommend the Sondheim review. If you're into People magazine style coverage, you can subscribe to Show People.

Thanks! I am already subscribing to Dramatics and American Theatre...but I was looking more for a Broadway type magazine.
Most of the montly theatre magazines have given away to online sites like this Broadway.com, Playbill.com and Theatremania.com -

There's the Sondheim Review that comes out quarterly. It contains interesting and well-written articles on Sondheim-related events, reviews of major regional productions (and the Broadway ones -- when the new Sweeney opened there were five articles), interviews with actors and directors associated with his shows, scholarly essays analyzing his music and trends in productions, and info about upcoming productions. It's not for everyone I guess, but for Sondheim fans it makes for terrific reading.
Any truth to the rumor that "Show People" will expire within the next few months?

My mom's best friend is the production director for time inc. There's two more issues being made.
I personally am a fan of BACK STAGE if you have the money.
And if you really have the money or can get an industry discount - VARIETY is still the best magazine for all things entertainment related.
Are u interested in Ldn musicals? Cuz we've got a few quite gd theatre magazines. Well, out own RUG theatre programmes are quite gd as they've got show reviews of UK, some articles about Broadway and some interesting interviews with current-running Westend performers.
There is also a good magazine which use to be free with a programme - Theatregoer magazine. (www.theatregoer.net)
I hope that helps!

Does Theatermania.com still have a magazine? I remember it being free, but I don't remember the last time i saw it.
Any help on locating would be great!
Theatermania does not publish that anymore. Updated On: 8/13/07 at 04:43 PM

You can always go to random theaters and pick up copies of Playbills they have laying around instead of getting a subscription. Some box offices give out copies.
P.S. The box office lady at Avenue Q was REALLY nice...she didn't have a Playbill but she kindly explained to me what the show was about.
