So, I would have post this in the D.C. board, but no one seems to reply on it. But, I am planning a trip to Washington D.C., and I was wondering if there was anything in the city to do that puritans to theatre. I was looking at taking a tour of the Kennedy Centre, but not sure what else to do. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great! Thanks

You could always pay a visit to Ford's Theatre for its historical significance.

I saw Spelling Bee there recently (my first time at Ford's), and it's great! They even let you take photos before the show.

The Folger Theater might have a show running that is worth checking out. Even if they don't, it's worth a visit to see their Shakespeare collection and they are just a few steps from the Capitol.

You might also check out Goldstar's theater listings when you are ready to go to see what shows they have. On a past visit, I saw a great small theater production of THE WEIR for about $20.

If you tour the Kennedy Center, try to go around 6pm when they have the free daily concert at Millennium Stage.

Other than that and Ford's, there's not really any theatre-specific tourist destinations. Dorothy's ruby slippers at the American History Museum. The bizarre "Walk of Fame" by Warner Theatre that I know nothing about other than that Savion Glover is outside Potbelly.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
