Hi,
I'm going to be in Boston from the end of June till August and was looking for theatre things to do while in town.
I've saw Blue man and sheer madness last time I was in town.
Any help and advice would be awesome!
Thanks.
The Donkey Show at Club Oberon (through the A.R.T) is not to be missed! Also starting mid summer and early fall "Finding Neverland" is premiering at the A.R.T. In addition From the End of June to end of July The Phantom national tour will be at the Boston Opera House.
You could check out the Huntington theater as well. I don't know what they do in the summer.
Take a drive/bus to Williamstown for Williamstown Theater Festival. It looks like they've got a great season

You can always take a ferry to Provencetown in Cape Cod. It is about a 90 minute ride. Major theater stars perform concerts there all summer long.

I realized I shouldn't contribute a negative without contributing a positive:
Steve Maler directs Commonwealth Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" on Boston Common from July 23 to August 10th. Two luminous ladies, Kerry O'Malley and Marianna Bassham are Olivia and Viola, respectively. Fred Sullivan, Jr., who needs no microphone to be heard on the Common is Malvolio. Hunky Robert Najarian (original Malcolm, Sleep No More Boston and NYC) is Orsino. The shows are free, reserved seating is available with an advance donation.
Oh, wow! Steve Maler is an old school chum of mine. I haven't seen him in years. I really need to make my way to Boston sometime soon.

I admire him for his determination and dedication. I missed a few productions in the early years of CommShakes, but never again. Given the unpredictability of New England weather, I recommend seeing a show early in the run, in case the end of the run gets rained out.
Last year's Two Gents was a total blast. Maler's Macbeth with Jay O. Saunders was legitimately scary. He's had flush funding years and much leaner year's yet the shows always deliver.
You could make your way up to Gloucester, get some "lobsteh," and then see Gloucester Stage Company's "Jacque Brel is Alive and Well..."

Remember how the accessory used to go on about other people's lives being empty? Sheesh. Now it's not even finding appropriate walls to throw its spaghetti at.
So, to sort of get the thread back on topic and bring something somewhat positive: This isn't theater related but it is dramatic… if you can take a trip down to Providence Rhode Island for one of their summer WaterFire events, I recommend it. It's basically all in the name, bonfires in the river that cuts through downtown Providence. It's beautiful and a fun night.
Here's the schedule:
WaterFire, Providence
