I remember someone saying on a different thread that after talking to an usher about the cramped leg room, [I don't remember the theatre] he was moved to the handicapped row, is it really this simple if its too much to deal with? Or do they only do this at some theatres?
I've found the best to be the Hilton, by far. The Minskoff, Marquis, and Gershwin also have lots of room.
As for the worst, I felt crammed in the mezz of the Plymouth (or whatever we call it now), the New Amsterdam, and the Imperial.
has anyone else been really cramped at the Ambassador? i cat in 1st row of the mezz and my knees hurt soo much when i got out of my seet

Hilton, Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Minskoff, New amsterdam are the best
Golden, Neil Simon, and majestic. I was very cramped in at the majestic. I was tight and plus i had two fat people next 2 me. was not fun
Oh god, the mezz at the New Amsterdam is terrible.
I thought that the orchestra at the Gershwin was pretty comfy, and the mezz at the Marquis was quite spacious as well.

The worst I've been in are the St. James & Vivian Beaumont. The best, Hilton, August Wilson & Marquis.
The Imperial is pretty bad in the mezzanine. I've only sat in the orchestra once and a half (yay for switiching at intermission) and enver had an issue. The mezzanine made me scream the three and a half times I was there.
I didn't like the Lunt-Fontanne in the mezzanine either, but the orchestra was spacious.
Al Hirschfeld was the best for the most legroom in my opinion.
The worst is the balcony of the Belasco.

ive never personally had trouble with no room
but my dad is 6'4, and had a problem at the August Wilson (then the Virginia) with leg room sitting in the orchestra
other than that, he hasnt complained about limited leg room
how is the Walter Kerr for room?
The Colonial Theatre in Boston is horrible in the mezz. HORRIBLE! I've never been so uncomfortable in my life.
The Marquis was very comfy. I enjoyed the comfort of the seats at The Broadway Theatre, but the legroom was okay.
I'm sitting the last row of the mezz @ the Broadhurst this December. How bad will it be?

I found the O'Neill to be pretty bad, though I had plenty of leg room at the Marquis, Vivian Beaumont, and Circle-in-the-Square. I'm a little over 6ft.

Shubert theater does have really limited leg space. It's really bad!
When in Toronto, avoid the mezz and balcony of The Royal Alex. The seats are tiny and the angle so steep, you could literally fall out (I wonder if anyone has?).

The Eugene O'Neil was horrible. I sat in the Mezz after getting my student ticket, and I had no room to move. I usually sit with my legs crossed, but I couldn't or else I would have slapped the dudes head infront of me. But Sweeney kept me interested, so I only noticed during intermission. And where do you put your big, winter jacket? I don't want to coat check!
I was in the balcony of the Shubert. It wasn't completely packed that day so I actually moved, but some of the rows had far less leg room than others...
I remember at the Schubert it was kind of a tight space...I was in the front row on the side so I don't know how it was in the rows behind me. On top of it, I had to sqeeze between this tiny space to get into the seat.
This is off-subject but a real laugh. Years ago I took two friends to see a movie in London England at the Odeon. The theater was totalyy emptty. We sat down. The usher came in and made us move to the seats that were printed on our tickets.
In a totally empty theatre.
We saw the show alone. No other patrons. Halfway through, my friend said "F*CK it" and moved back to the other seat. The usher came back in. My friend glowered at him and the kid backed off.
The Imperial, definitely the worst
