EvanK...that Paramount is an amazing piece of architecture, elegance, and romance!!! Quite formidable, and I hope someday I can sit there and experience it. What did you see there...?
The new amsterdam
My opinion of a theatre depends greatly on the sightlines from the cheap seats. Cause thats usually where I end up. That being said, I could be leaning on the back wall of the Imperial and still enjoy the show. The rear rows of the Lunt Fontainne and Richard Rogers are completely spoiled by the damn overhang. I love the size of the Nederlander, but the side seats are pretty bad in the orchestra.
Other city: I love the Ahmanson in Los Angeles, but it does suck from lots of places. The Taper on the other hand is amazing no matter where you sit. The Pantages is too narrow and goes too far back for my taste, and if you can avoid it, don't bother with the Orange County Perfoming Arts Center. Whoever designed that theatre should be kicked in the face, everything besides front and center orchestra sucks.

re: Neil Simon,
At a near final performance of Hairspray, I sat 4th row center, and had to rise up to see "the rats on the street will dance around my feet". From front row, understandable, but from 4th and can't see the stage floor, a bit of a problem.
