I am surprised some clips of his Tevye haven't started surfacing. Their use to be a real good one of him and Susan Cella doing the Do You Love Me from the last tour. But I can't find anything now.

I remember him rushing through the role of Tevye when I saw him do it live twice. He was "in" the role fully, but rushed through it. Even so, he gave a great performance!

Still looking. The only clips I can find are of concerts and special appearances. Looking specifically for clips with him from the show.

Just curious if you saw Topol in the farewell tour before he had to withdraw due to injuries and was replaced by both Bikel and Harvey Fierstein. After seeing Topol even a snail would look like it was rushing through the role.
But RIP to a very talented, and by many accounts, kind and generous performer.

I was wondering this as well. And BTW... Topol leaving the tour because of injuries was the "official" reason given .. and I don't know if there is any truth to that or not. Truth be told members of the company were all complaining about him and numerous charges were being filed with actors equity. He was increasingly difficult to deal with. If one would read the Facebook accounts of the actors on tour at the time... it was all there. I am talking about Topol.. not Bikel.

I saw Topol in Boston right before the end and he was slow but very committed to the role. He also pulled a Zero Mostel and milked it for all it was worth.
What kind of problems was the cast having with him? What happened with equity? I would love to know.
