"I thought Stephen Schwartz had talked about another one of his shows, Children of Eden, finally getting a shot at Broadway."
Ugh! Really? I've been in that show twice. It sucks.

Oh no, the revival of RENT has booked it, starting June 2.
In all seriousness though.....I just can't imagine ANYTHING else in the NEderlander. It just doesn'twork. Plus theyre going to have to do some serious renovating, the Nederlander isn't in the best of shape, it works for RENT but unless MOULIN ROUGE (the next best Bohemian musical) takes over, then it'll be quite sometime for a new show to move in.

Why would anyone bother investing in a Bare revival? It would flop faster than Lestat.
Um.. it seems to me that it has a pretty darn solid fanbase (small perhaps, but solid), and from what I've heard it really did quite well when it was off Broadway :) Sometimes fluke things just happen and shows can't get Broadway runs even if they sell well off Broadway and get good reviews, but that doesn't mean that they can't be revived and do well. Bare is honestly one of the best written shows I know of (in terms of the actual script itself). Sure, there are little parts here and there that can be tweaked, and some of the staging and/or set could be tighter, but over all it had been a VERY solid show that I think would do well. Unfortunately, now with Spring Awakening it would be hard because it has a LOT of parallels to SA. But if it weren't for that, I really do feel like Bare would have a decent shot.
But again, I was mainly just expressing my dream world- I'm well aware that there's pretty much no chance it'll happen at this point. I still have hopes for some time in the future though!

That's a great idea. Put Pippin in there and the Nederlander Theater will solidify its reputation for housing rubbish.
I saw Pippin in the 70s. Even the greatest director/choreographer in the world wasn't able to make that turkey soar. Only Carmelina and Rent were bigger wastes of time in my Broadway-attending history.

Posted: 2/19/08 at 2:45amWhen Rent Closes (August 24th) they are going into renavations immediately. Their are two shows that should definately have the option of a revival there because there has been talks of both of these shows coming back. Godspell and Hair. Both could fit well in the Nederlander. I just hope Hair could get a revival after this summers delecort run.

Posted: 2/19/08 at 9:59amWithout Fosse's staging Pippin is nothing and Schwartz hates (or rather hated) Fosse, though he won't admit it, so I doubt he'll allow a remounting of the original. So, I would say no that. It's not really a good show.

All for Pippin being revived! Love that show. Not sure about Arden myself though...He does tend to over-sing everything.
