Oh, for God's sake, people. A sense of humor is essential for getting through life. I like CATS and get pissed off at all the CATS bashing, yet I don't whine about it all the time. In fact, I even *gasp!* laugh at some of it. Yes, it is possible to like something and laugh at parodies of it, too.
Can anyone give a reason for it not being funny other than they think it's "lame" or "not funny"? Because that's actually simply not true. It's a very witty satirical website.
As for it being inaccurate, that's not true either. I mean, I'm sorry, I mean I just don't know how else to tell you.
So: any other, more legitimate reasons?
Sueleen, you are hysterical! My favorite poster I think.
"I am the sound of distant thunder, the color of flame."
CARRIE the Musical
I didn't read the entire thing at first but when I did read the entire thing it was HILARIOUS!!!! I laughed out loud sooo hard. Look at my title change ^^
I was just lazy before -- it just shows how I'm not "pretty smart" - lol
Give me a break guys - everyone has a different opinion.
Sure, but it's irregular to be so strongly spoken about something that makes you look obnoxious and then change your opinion about said subject right away as if to retreat from the controversey that's targeted at you.
This has nothing really to do with the whole argument thing going on here, but thanks for putting up the link to that- I laughed out loud like 10 times. And I LOVE Wicked. The Forbidden Broadway SVU Wicked song made me laugh hysterically, too. Look at it from the perspective that someone who likes Wicked wrote it for fun or something. Because personally, if I was that talented with comedic writing I would. Actually no. But you get my point.
You can like Wicked AND Wicked parodies! *gasp*
"so strap me in a harness and hoist me up to the sky in all the big shows lately all the leading ladies have to fly and hanging from the rafters I'll dangle like a blimp pump up my volume as i kill my flying chimp! ...i'll blow the Gershwin up because I am the loudest witch in oz and no one's gonna turn my volume down!"
"It breaks my heart to see a grown man dressed as a Taco." -David Sedaris
I love Les Miserables.
My new pic is me(on the left)at my last dance recital:(
I know! I was listening to it with my mom and she was like "this person was in the Broadway cast, right?" And they both seriously could've been, and IMO are better than some of the people who are/have been...

Hehe I think it's kind of funny (bitter wheelchair sister haha), though I am a big wicked fan. I still don't understand why people don't like the show though. I love the music and think the lyrics are cute and clever and everyone i know who has listened to wicked loves it. I've only seen the show once but I thought that it was funny and liked the writing (the defying gravity scene is amazing).
morebroadway posts a thread that the Wicked spoof makes him mad. (First of all anyone who gets mad at any kind of spoof really needs a sense of humor)
John Popa jokes and tells him to get a life.
morebroadway replies with the following: "Trust me, I have a life. You are the one who's a legend and who's been here since 2003 - not me. I have a boyfriend, musical talents and I'm pretty smart." ( I have to say that I find this offensive and repulsive. So anyone who is here a long time and is a Legend doesn't have a life, uh ? And this is coming from a poster who has given us any private information imaginable on the Off Topic board and was always supported by those of us who DON'T have a life !!! Thanks a lot !
than morebroadway changes his title saying that he hadn't read the above mentioned spoof fully and now he finds it hilarious !

umm, it really is possible to like Wicked and the parodies. I happen to be a huge fan of Gil and broadwayabridged.com. I think it's very insightful and fun. He's said before that he doesnt ahte the shows he does, he's just poking fun.
Hmm. that was very biased against Idina. Haha it doesn't even mention Defying Gravity but points out a bunch of times that Kristin's Popular was hilarious. Oh, well. Idina rocks.
Kinda, but the author does mention Idina's "incredible voice"! I think they were making fun of the way her character is written rather than Idina herself. Plus the comments after she performs "Wizard & I" and "No Good Deed" :) I love Idina, too. "Indiana" really made me laugh though!
I hate that website. That guy is a lonley individual that blindly looks at theatre and rewrites it to make fun of it, which is a horrible thing to do.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
While I love snark as much as the next person, this just wasn't as funny as it has the potential to be. I totally agree with xxnewgirlxx, check out televisionwithoutpity.com for truely hilarious writing.
And I have to nitpick one thing. Shiz is referred to as "A HORRIBLE RIP-OFF OF "HOGWART'S SCHOOL OF WIZARDRY".
However, the book of Wicked came out about 2 years before the first Harry Potter book was released. So you can't really say it's a rip-off (even in its musical form) if Gregory Maguire's concept of Shiz was published before J.K. Rowlings's Hogwarts was.
