ehh... ya didn't miss much. In the second year, they played off of teh boyband phenominon by taking five guys from the cast and creating a faux boyband that performed after curtain calls... Kush, Jamie Gustis (GROWL... YUM), and a few others....

The mainstage of the theater I work in has done this show twice. I liked It both times. I believe this is because of the size of the cast. it has just enough that it works, no more no less. However I also saw it in a community theater where my two friends were playing Ren and Ariel. These are two fine young actors and I was blown by their portrayl of their characters. As for the other actors (the man playing Shaw(an actual minister) exempted) it just didn't work. There were too many people on stage and there were way too many young teens (with obviously no experience) in major roles (like willard, rusty, ect.)

All in all this show is a blast (despite its flaws) if there is a good cast.

I choreographed a high school production of Footloose about a year and a half ago.

The cast was chalk full of girls who could dance and sing.

And guys who couldn't.

The Ren was a fat kid who couldn't dance and couldn't hit any of Ren's notes...they lowered like every single song for him.

Not to mention the other like 50 members of the chorus, that show was hell for me.

I'd imagine if it is done correctly the show could be an effective piece of musical theatre.

Or maybe overall it just sucks..

wow that sucks, our was amazing, most of us go to the same voice teacher, who happened to be the director. As far a choreography goes, or show kicked a** as far as communtiy theatre goes. It was quality stuff. And I really felt like i brought Cowboy #2 to life. lol
This show was such a blast, and we have it on dvd, to forever remember our goodtimes.

I saw it... it was pretty bad. Bad, but fun.

LOL, this is kinda how our high school production was summed up....

The castmembers I did Footloose with (high school) who saw wicked with KC were like ARIEL IS PLAYING GLINDA?! Because that recording does not show off her vocal talent AT ALLLLL.

They thought Kristen Chenoweth was Jennifer Laura Thompson . Or maybe I am just confused with what you are saying.

No they were surprised that the woman who played Ariel could possibly play Glinda because the vocals are so different for each show.
