I really wish 3penny did more of a montage number--i.e. somehow worked in the wonderous voices/acts of Jim Dale and Brian Charles Rooney.
Still very happy to have just a little clip saved on tape for seasons to come.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 12:03pmSpeaking of Threepenny, does anyone have any info on the cast album? Is it out? Is it coming? What's going on? I've been trying to find stuff about it, but I'm either a little slow today or google has a serious grudge against me.

Oh, it's on YouTube!?
YES!
They should have done the end of SOLOMON SONG (the Macheath verse) and then Cyndi could segue (Scene 8: Whose side are you on?) into LUCY'S ARIA.
Because the two best moments of 3PO happen back to back.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 12:10pmI was suprised (we were there) that the F word was used (by Macheath), of course it was deleted on the TV broadcast (checked TIVO when we got home)

Posted: 6/12/06 at 12:11pmInteresting performance, but I agree it wasn't the best choice from the show.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 12:12pm3 PENNY OPERA's # came off the worst at Radio City...why on earth did they do that number? It was soooooo Boring! Blah...just proved that it shouldnt have been nominated at all.

Well, in the show, right before that number, Macheath realizes that Jenny is going to betray him.
Then he sings about how they used to live together, long ago. She was a prostitute and he was basically her pimp. She made the love, he got the money.
Enter Jenny with the police (she's been paid off by Mrs. Peachum (Ana Gastayer), wife of the king of the beggars (Jim Dale)) who trap Macheath. The number ends with the police surrounding Macheath and arresting him.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 12:45pmI thought it was a great number and Lauper was as great as she is in the show, but I thought they should have performed "Mack, the Knife" just because it featured more cast members.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 2:32pmSeeing the Threepenny segment on the Tony Awards made me very happy! I had an excellent seat for last weekends matinee on Saturday. I couldn't make it due to the rains that flooded the railroad tracks into NYC...and the subways as well. My nagging regrets have now subsided. That segment was no 'keeper' in MY archives!

Posted: 6/12/06 at 2:36pmI would have liked to have seen something showing Jim Dale's part since he was a nominee. He was excellent in the production. "Mack the Knife" would have also been a good choice.

"Alan Cumming in those tights and boots made my night."
HAHA. I said the same thing about Cyndi.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 2:59pmRight on, Cyndi looked hot as well. I've never seen her so uncovered and sexed-up. She looked divine & delish. Unfortunately, I lean towards men, so Alan grabbed my eyes and Cyndi lost my gaze. :)

::sigh::

Posted: 6/12/06 at 3:31pmThey should have done the Moritat, and then segued into an ensemble number, like "Why Do Humans Live?".

Posted: 6/12/06 at 3:32pmI was with friends and we all hated the performance, but my friend is going to buy the pants that Cumming was wearing ASAP. He is infatuated with them.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 3:35pmThose pants were divine. No doubt. I think you should be buying them Muscle. You would work them 3x better than Alan. :)

Posted: 6/12/06 at 6:38pmI saw it right on Tony day and I was surprised how good and fun it was after the awful reviews. I think they should have done a montage as well, I didn't like their song selection.

Posted: 6/12/06 at 6:53pmWhy was the man that danced with Alan Cumming wearing Adidas pants? Are those his costume or did a mix-up happen? I only ask because everyone else's costumes were so drastically different from his.
