So, I just off the phone with a Ticketmaster agent trying to find some good seats for The Little Mermaid. I’d put it off, and thought with the frenzy kicking in, I better get them in hand.
I scored some great weeknight tickets in January, but the Ticketmaster agent said that they were slammed with call today… more than any show she had ever seen after a first preview. She said that people were hearing from friends who had seen the show last night, and were going ga-ga over the show (I imagine there were some scalpers in that mix too)…
All that to say, if you are planning to see this show before next Fall, don’t put off getting your seats. I imagine those who are waiting for reviews are going to find themselves in a Jersey Boys-type waiting pattern.
I was there last night, and the show blew me away. It is just stunning! I’ve already been at the box office today to get seats for my friends who are coming to visit from Florida in a few weeks. The weekend seats were all gone, but I found some decent mezzinen seats on a Thursday night. I think the view is pretty good in the Lunt balcony. The line at the box office was insane, so it does seem that some degree of mania is already kicking in.
Anyway, I’ve talked to four friends today, and told them to get their tickets immediately if they plan to see this prior to next summer.
Has anyone tried for those Visa Signature seats?… I’m wondering if its worth applying for a new credit card.
There were also full page colors ads in the Times and Newsday this weekend that said something like, "The curtain rose for the first time last night and more tickets are on sale today".
I was in the front mezz last night, and the view was amazing… in some ways, I think I prefer it to the orchestra. You really got to see the scale of the show. The sets and lighting are so elaborate, seeing it a bit from above is probably a better perspective, in my opinion.
And, yes, I echo the sentiment in other threads…. Sierra Boggus (sp?) is going to be a Broadway star. She is amazing!... and Sheri Rene Scott is so freakin hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing… the show really is one of the most amazing productions I’ve seen in a long, long time.
I saw the ad today in the Times too, frogs_fan85... Let’s take a poll on how many days until the prices go up…lol!
anyone know if ther will be SRO or some other rush policy?

I just got mine. God, I hate Ticketmaster. It’s such a pain to search for seats peformance by performance online. Anyway, I got some tickets on the side of the left orchestra for Tues, Dec 18. I can’t wait. I have some friends who went last night who were raving. They said the crowd was insane with applause. Wish I could have seen the first performance. Is anyone here going to the matinee today?
I can't imagine they are going to have student rush anytime soon.
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
I got good seats for Dec 3 last week. I thought it would be a good bet because its the only Monday show (I guess because of Thanksgiving or the opening or something?)… I just checked the same night… they are now selling the back of the orchestra!

Cannot WAIT to see this on 01.30! Front row! These reviews pouring in last night were golden, and now, I'm amped even-more-so to see this 'stunning' production!
I'm not one to usually call shill, but come on now! Four people all who joined today, all with similar avatars, all saying how there's a frenzy for LITTLE MERMAID tickets?
