Do you think, it's justified that the tickets for Broadway show's are so expensive? Of course there's always supply and demand, but seeing the prices for the ACL revival, f.e., makes me gasp for breath, I never could afford them. Yeah, there are some tickets for 20 or 26 Dollars, but you've to be lucky to get them and the view isn't the best.

I mean, I just came back from London, where I saw Wicked and we had great seats for 18 Pounds (26$), the best seats in the house cost 55 Pounds (79$). And I don't think that West End productions are worser than those on Broadway.

It just seems like a huge discrepance to me.

What do you think?

Nope they are not
		     			Yes, it's justified.

There was just a WHOLE thread on this.

Search for CHORUS LINE PREMIUM SEATS or something, and you'll find it.

I'm not talking about ACL only, but about broadway tickets per se.

I was in New York in 2001 and would've loved to see a show. I simply couldn't afford it, though (needed the money to buy such stuff as food) - while it's easy and cheap to get tickets in London for the same shows. But I already stated that in my first post.

It is simply more expensive to put on a show in NYC than in London.
Search, dear. It's all been discussed to death.

Different union rules, smaller spaces, etc. etc. etc.

£55, the cost of those top price seats at Wicked, is the same as $102. So ticket prices are pretty much the same in London, except we have much less premium seating, thank god. Where did you get that $79 from?!

I rarely pay full price for shows. Since I plan ahead for my trips to NYC, I take advantage of the discount prices online. I have been really lucky so far.
I do the same..you just have to look around for discount codes..they are out there...although some top shows don't have them most do..for example, I love seeing Broadway shows, but to pay full-price for them everytime I want to see one, I'd be in debt(or my parents would be =D) but the discount codes are good if you do want to see a show, can't afford it, and want to pay a better price than $132. I always take advantage of them for the shows that are availible with them and the lottery and student rush seats are not always the worst either. There's many option, because sure the regular prices are a lot to spend, especially if you buy more than 1 seat.

		     			$100+ is getting ridiculous.

Ok, I understand supply and demand but this is going a bit overboard. Thy are swimming in money. Is it really justifiable? Is there a GOOD reason for the price increase?

Yes, things are getting more expensive in general but to hike up prices like they are is almost gross. I know there is another thread on this but, can you really enjoy a show knowing how much you paid for it?

Do I think it is justified? No.

But, what can you do?
