Tickets Before Cast is Announced

I may not be paying attention but I just noticed that both Dames and Waitress have announced start of ticket sales before a cast has been announced. Is this the typical industry practice? Personally, I don't think I'd shell out the money before knowing who will be Ruby or who is serving up the pie. I don't do it for regional/tours. Am I off base?

Hamilton announced the cast today. Pretty sure tix have been on sale awhile

Yes....casting is often not finalized until right before rehearsals begin. Sometimes only hours before.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
