Why am I the only one who loves Starlight Express and isn't afraid to say it?!
I love Joseph too. No matter how much I bag on it, I love it. ::sigh of relief::

I have never heard Starlight Express all the way through, but I actually like what I have heard.
Capn, have you ever heard Bernstein's version of Peter Pan?

Posted: 11/1/04 at 7:56pmSpider, I have The New Starlight Express recording and I absolutely adore it. It's one of the only musicals I can play in the car that my mom, brother, and I all know the words to like the back of our hands.

Posted: 11/1/04 at 7:57pmI actually enjoyed Bombay Dreams. Shoot me!
#33re: Time to come out of the Broadway closet
Posted: 11/1/04 at 7:57pmTher is a store around here that is selling it for $4 and I almost picked it up but decided against it. I think I might go pick it up, because I love Bernstein

Also, AIDA.
Shocked me to learn when I first discovered the Broadway.com message boards years ago that people actually DIDN'T like the show.

Music Man.
It was the first show in which I had a part I actually liked.

I thought Aida was dreadfully boring.
However, I will say that while I didn't LIKE Bombay Dreams, I do think "The Journey Home" is an excellent song.
I can't comment on Starlight Express because I don't know anything about it other than rollerskates.

I love all ALW shows (well, most of them) and I'm not ashamed of it!
I think the one I'm most ashamed of liking is R&H Cinderella.
#39re: Time to come out of the Broadway closet
Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:06pmI love R&H's Cinderella (even the Brandy version). And I love every single one of ALW's musicals for one reason or another.

R&H's Cinderella has such a great and classic score.
But one ****ty book.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:11pmI have the option of doing Cinderella this summer, but i think I'd rather audition for something else, like Ragtime at one of the local theaters! i still listen to the CD occassionally, it just doesn't hold up.

Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:27pmI think I can honestly say that I am not ashamed to show my love of any musical out there...not even Wicked (which I do enjoy)
#44re: Time to come out of the Broadway closet

That was very admirable of you.
I did enjoy that show when I was about 7 as well.
#46re: Time to come out of the Broadway closet
Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:36pmI LOVE Titanic. And I'm not really ashamed of my love for Wonderful Town, but I sure do get a lot of crap for liking from everyone I know (not on this board though, as of yet).
#47re: Time to come out of the Broadway closet
Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:38pmI love the music to CATS but I fall asleep everytime I watch the dvd

I'm not ashamed of these shows, but I would be looked down on by the hoity-toity theatre snobs if they knew I liked them.
So...here it goes:
Bombay Dreams
Seussical
Mamma Mia
We Will Rock You
Aida
Wicked
Thoroughly Modern Millie

Posted: 11/1/04 at 8:45pmWow, Zoran. I like every single one of those except for Mamma Mia (which I have never heard). Yay, outcasts unite.
