Heaven.
I agree...minus Burton. I haven't enjoyed most of his recent films. He's in a funk. I hope doing a musical will break him out of it.

This logo is going to kill the film/ People are going to think its a horror film and be sorely disappointed.
Mark my words
Well, the logo with Sweeney silhouetted, flying in holding an umbrella and a carpet bag was already taken... so they decided to use the razor and blood instead.
Go figure.

Im sorry, I love Sweeney, but it's not scary. Never will be. It's highly dramatic, but not frightening.
And horror films fans will only ridicule it. They should market it better.
does anyone know if Depp is going to shave his head for this? (i know it's not necessary at ALL but i'm just curious)
seriously its so NOT HORROR MOVIE MATERIAL. its dramatic and emotional, its not a slasher a musical. Sure, people get slashed, but, burton is gonna turn this thing into a farce if he tries to make it a horror movie.

Sweeney's more of a dark, thriller than a straight horror, slasher film. It's not a Friday The 13th or A Nightmare On Elm Street, it's could go more along the lines of maybe Red Dragon or maybe something out of the Hannibal Lecter series, cause those films aren't really horror movies or slasher films, but more of a thriller movie.
I think Sweeney will be fine, Burton is one of the few directors out there who can identify with the characters and really create a great atmosphere for a film. That and he does understand the material and his films are usually dark, and a bit quirky with the humor he uses.

sorry, but I dont agree that Sweeney is even close to the scare or thrill level as Red Dragon or any of the Hannibal movies.
This reminds of the thread on ATC about the musical scrubs episode.
Musical theater lends itself to ridicule by its very nature, and its one of the reasons why the show was not scary, and the movie will not be scary.
That having been said, I think its dramatic, even melodramatic and thats the fun part about it. It could even be creepy when done in John Doylesque Marat/Sade version, which I thought was genius.
And if Burton does something like that, then I might be proven wrong. Adding another macabre element where all the characters are mad, that might be good actually.

Fenchurch, it might be scarier on film with more realistic special effects.
^ That's true.
And for the record, Sweeney has always freaked me out in a way, and done right, I think it could be quite creepy/scary.
While I think it has the potential to be somewhat creepy, it wont be scary. It's not like Sweeney's going to be jumping out of the darkness to kill people...we're gonna see it coming.
It's not like other movies where the main character is being stalked by some psycho killer who could strike at any moment. Sweeney is that psycho killer, and we root for him.
Sondheim would be upset that the show didn't frighten you at all, Fenchurch. He has been quoted saying that a major part of why he did Sweeney Todd was because he wanted to truly frighten audiences. The movie's not a slasher film, but there are indeed a few thrills.
double post.

Hey, I love Sondheim, but just because he wanted it, doesn't mean he did it.
Which he didn't. He writes great tunes and even better words, but he's not a god whose intentions suddenly materialize and are perfect.
He misses the mark, a lot, actually. And this is one of those cases.
It's JUST a logo, folks. It only says how they are planning to promote it in terms of images. We don't know the context yet. We don't know how they are doing the film. Chill. Wait for teaser images.

Mandi Moo: I think that could be a scary aspect. People probably aren't used to rooting for the psychotic killer, so his being the "hero" might be quite unsettling.
