That stud modeling in the Dolittle ad is Joe Domencic. He's a stage actor indeed. Currently playing Smudge in Forever Plaid with the CLO.

I saw the London production, however from what they're saying here this is going to be entirely different. The London production was, quite simply, MASSIVE, so big that it only ran for a year - it was a 3326 seater venue. The sets were some of the best sets I have ever seen, as were the special effects and the puppets were just incredible. But, the show wasn't all that great as a whole, I think it was just *too* big, people were only after spectacle not content.

For a touch of trivia, Julie Andrews voiced the puppet of Polynesia in the London productionn. For 700 lines she reportedly got £100,000.

I suspect that Dr. Doo is playing an extended tour to try to recoup the costs and make some profit before the NY critics have a look at it.

As someone else has bravely pointed out, the movie stunk (as did the film of Chitty) and if it opened in town, it would be branded for the dog it is and would probably be a big longish-run financial failure. By touring first Dr. Doo might escape that onus.

Also the road is starved for shows, but why this one?

What's next? Star? Darling Lili?

It's interesting that they say "It is not the movie" yet the songs and plot are very close to the film. I wonder why they didn't try to get Eddie Murphy or Robin Williams, they would be great! They are the funniest man alive.
