Nothing like suspension of disbelief. I would have been irritated as hell, but then everything about this show irritates me. I do love the intensity of the passion you all seem to have for it, though, so keep waving that banner. It's entertaining as all get out.
kgee30 -you took the words right out of my mouth.
While the little line was cute about the Tony I didn't think it was really what I would call a Class Act. It did interrupt the show and cause them both to giggle and break character. I'll admit it was a cute thing the way Kristin worked it in there but it was a bit unnecessary and I didn't find it as touching and whatnot as the rest of the audience apparently.
I think it's kind of cute. I understand why Kristen said that, and even though it did break character a little, I think it's kind of appropriate because of the Tonys and everything being on Sunday.
Appropriate? Nope. The time to make such an acknowledgement would be during the curtain call. The self-indulgence just keeps rolling along...
I don't see what the big surprise is about the girls breaking character. From what I hear (and have actually seen)they do it quit often......
It's no surprise at all. ZIP. But every time there's a new round of "Kristen and Idina did the cutest thing in the middle of {fill in the blank with the scene of your choice}, and they just couldn't stop giggling" posts, as soon as the nausea subsides, I have an almost uncontrollable urge to voice my irritation. Which, by 50 or so posts into the thread, will have escalated to utter disgust.

But don't you see? Idina winning that Tony was all of us, all of us green girls who know that someday we too will win a Tony and I believe that Kristin was telling us we will, too. That was what she was really saying about the mirror. As soon as we stop going to see Wicked 18 times a month and really get to work on our audition pieces it'll be our turn. See? I'm crying again just from explaining that!
Namo, you remain the king of unadulterated sarcasm. You ROCK!
As for me, I'm not surprised a nod was given to Menzel's Tony win during a performance. And it surprises me that it doesn't offend me. I guess I've become immune to the onstage shenanigans that ensue at WICKED. It's a little tacky, sure, but how often does a verdigris vixen emerge victorious?

Ten points for you for the phrase "how often does a verdigris vixen emerge victorious?"
Now you've got me crying all over again! I'm happy, really!

you guys need to relax a little, this kind of thing isnt as uncommon or disruptive as you make it out to be. Especially in that scene where theyre sitting on the bed becoming friends, its appropriate for them to have a moment to bond or laugh. Hairspray also has improv'd lines like that all the time and Im not even talking about Jackie Hoffman's character where the improv is expected. Chester Gregory throws in lines that arent in the script or gives people nods when theyre leaving or what have you during the song Run N Tell That. On Matt's last night as Link he added a line about swinging in the jungle, a reference to Tarzan in the scene where he wasnt even speaking to Link but the crowd went wild.
I was there last night, and going in i was sure something would be mentioned about the Tony. Despite all the other breaking of character and adlibing, i was not bothered by this one. She won a Tony, it was her first night back!! If Kristin wanted to celebrate w/ the entire audience that her co-star just won that award why not? Maybe it would have gone over w/ you guys better if this wasnt a habit of the two girls. *shrugs* I loved it. You could tell that Idina was not expecting it (yet you wonder why didnt she based on past experience..) It was touching and sweet, and the audience loved it, it also gave the audience a chance to show their support and happiness for her win.
sry double post! but while im editing it, ill also mention (if it wasnt already) that there was a photographer outside the stage door taking a whole bunch of pics of the crowd - hope im not in the one he uses!!

How many times have you seen the show?? I wish I lived in NY rather than CA:/
I've seen the show four times, and I have experienced only one break of character. It was during "What is this feeling." I didn't really mid all that much.......
This was also my 4th time, my mother wanted to go back before Chenoweth left. This was also the first time i saw any breaking of character. I actually didnt realize til i was there that this was their first performance since she won the Tony.
Time line:
Tony awards: Sunday, June 6, 8pm
Theatre Dark: Monday, June 7
Performance: Tusday, June 8, 8pm
How didn't you know?????????????
Can we stop with the completely unneccessary, mean-spirited, not even witty posts, please?
thanks
love and hugs

WOAH! Nothing mean meant by that, just a friendly time line. If you are that sensitive, then go to the children's message board. It's all love and hugs there.
It's not so much the 'meanspirit' oh mr.i'vebeenpostingforfivesecondsandaspiretobethenextfindingnamo (no disrespect meant Namo, you're posts are generally what keep me reading this board) it's just that there was no need for that post. Common sense. I mean if you wanna make fun of someone, that's cool, but at least try to make it entertaining, or funny, or at least use some amount of brainpower.
no harm meant...

I see what you mean. Well, off to get ready for the next show. I guess since I know the WICKED schedule so well, I assumed everyone does.
Nessa = confessa

I bought the tickets ages ago and didnt think about them til the day of. Plus i have been very busy, sorry if i wasnt counting down the days til i was seeing WICKED.

Why thank you, VOR. According to José, everybody hates me, all my posts are cruel attacks, and in his new position of Nicety Hostess, he's setting to make the world a kinder (yet subtly elitist) place. Well, I love to laugh, I think laughter is love, and believe you me, when somebody gets a good one off at my expense I LOL louder than José could ever type.
And, as soon as a little matter of some web code gets worked out or José drops the inexplicaple apostrophe in his name, I'll be able to put him in my ignore users list and my world will be filled with peace.
Thank you again for your kind words.

Lighten up... there are far worse things in the world to worry about. By most accounts (this story was also posted by someone on the ATC board), the audience loved it. That should be all that matters. It was a light moment that people seemed to enjoy.
