Said it in the other thread, gonna say it again in this one.. Here here for Julie Harris for a well deserved honor! She is my absolute hero and I am extremely happy today.

Yeah, about freakin' time, indeed. re: Tony Award Winner Julie Harris Among 2005 Kennedy Center Honorees

The KCH has been, since its very first year, one of my favorite nights of the year. This year looks to be no exception. I do hope that Ms. Harris is feeling well for the occasion. I know she will have all the support and love of the artistic community - and deservedly so.

I would LOVE for them to honor Doris Day, but the Academy has tried for years to get her to come out of retirement, to no avail...so I doubt the Kennedy Center would have any better luck. It's a real shame. I would love to see her!

She had a stroke about seven years ago. I'm not sure how she is, but I know she's made appearances here and there. I do know that she has a bit of trouble with speech, as far as finding the correct words sometimes, that sort of thing.

She was well enough to accept her special Tony a couple of years ago, after the stroke and I heard (not sure that it's true) that she's actually been back on stage since (a couple of performances at a small theatre somewhere out of town). I think she's OK and, health-allowing, wants to keep working if she can.

SueleenGay ~ I just about had a heart attack from the first line of your post!

I am ecstatic that she is getting honored along with the others. What a night!
