Has anyone else here been? Its gonna be raining and gross. Can I wear a cocktail dress instead of a floor length gown?
Its fine to rag on me if at least one person is helpful lol
Yes, definitely.

Floor length gown? You're kidding us, right? Sweets, in your seats... you're fine in a short cocktail dress.

I have gone the past two years and have worn a cocktail dress both times.
However I do not suggest you wear khaki shorts and a hawaiian shirt like the couple sitting across from me did. lol!
Honestly, just dress nice and have a great time! :)

YIKES!!! How tacky!! This is my 3rd major awards show this year and I'm very excited. But I wouldn't have dared to wear a cocktail dress to the Emmys or SAGs so I am SUUUPER conflicted.
Thanks for the reassurance- though some (expectedly) backhanded. I appreciate it all :)
Your welcome! Have a great time!

"Do I wear the little Gucci dress, the little Gucci dress, or THE LITTLE GUCCI DRESS?"
15 points for the "Spice World" reference.
I'm wearing a black cocktail dress.
(I'm sitting in Orchestra seats. Row GG.)
No need to wear a gown!
But you do want to 'dress up'
Enjoy!

I think i am going to wear a pink and gold Cynthia Rowley dress. I know Montego Glover and Chad Kimball's publicist and she said I can wear a cocktail dress. Since she will be there, and I actually know her as opposed to you guys I can yell at her if people give me the stink eye! LOL

everyone HERE told you that you can wear a cocktail dress too. Not like the publicist gave you "insider scoop".
Have a great time!
Why did you ask us if you already knew someone else to ask?

Sorry for this silly question also. I know the show starts at 8, do they have red carpet at 7 or 7:30 or do we not see red carpet? Sorry I always used to have grad parties and events the years before so I never was able to watch the Tony's live.

LOL I didn't know she was going until after I asked. And since I don't know any of you personally, I have a person in the flesh to be mad at if I look like a jackhole.
I am not sure about carpet stuff. We are supposed to be in our seats by 7. After 7 we don't get in.
I say go as Lady Gaga, total latex or something...that way, the rain won't matter...

Curious, how does one get orchestra seats to the Tony's? Are they sold or comped (or both)
@wickedpoppinsfan - The live broadcast starts at 8pm on CBS, but starting at 7pm there is an hour of awards that are given out but Karen Olivo and Greg Jabara that is not broadcasted as is. They cut clips together and show it during the live broadcast.(The name of this part of the Tony Awards is escaping me...sorry) So everyone needs to be in their seats by 7pm. Red Carpet starts at 6pm, which we dont see other then little clips at the beginning I believe. I hope that answered your question! :)
