Tony Awards Seat Filler Selection Process - Anyone Familiar With It?

I just applied to be a Tony Award seat filler. Is anyone familiar with the process? Do they pick you at random? I was not sure since they did not really ask you much. Thanks!

I too would like to know.

My friend did it a few years back, but she knew someone. She also got to sit in the first row for the whole show, and Hugh brought her up on stage and they sang a little song together during a commercial break.

Honestly, the best way to do it is to know someone. There is an application (that I don't believe is available until a little bit closer to the Tonys), but they overbook, so then often have to pare down the list a few days before. I did it last year with two friends and had a blast.

Hey guys!

Can someone PLEASE help with telling me how to apply to become a seat filler! I've been trying to find out for two years now. I know the best way is to know someone, but I'd even pay someone to give me an email address. Thanks for any help! Sorry to sound so desperate.

Why in the world would they need seat fillers? Why not bring down the folks who've already paid an arm and a leg to sit in the balconies?

I googled it.

I have heard many shows use the same source for their seatfillers.
Tony awards is listed on their site.

They still haven't sent out an email. I know a ton of people who still haven't gotten an email.
